What to do for a baby shower that isn't a baby shower??

My friend is due her first baby in January and I have been thinking long and hard what I can do for her baby shower. Does anyone else find it difficult?? I know she doesn't want the focus to be on her, she wants it to be a party for everyone. Well I think I might of found something that will do the trick.

Whilst searching through twitter I came across BabySugar so I thought I would have nosey through their website http://www.baby-sugar.co.uk/. They are offering baskets with gift bags full of belgium chocolate or they can change this to things like jelly babies for children. You can choose from pre designed baskets or with help from them create your own.

I've not quite decided which one to get yet, what about you??

The sun has got his hat on.....

....hip hip hooray, the sun has got his hat on and he's coming out to play.

The sun has a way of making you feel instantly better, doesn't it? I love it, the girls are playing out in the garden blowing bubbles. My washing is drying on the line, even better the sun is bleaching out all the stains. I can't help but smile.

My only problem is now I am having to dig all the summer clothes, what to wear, what to wear.

Feel so bad

Well this morning Freya decided she didn't want to go to play school. I was putting it down to fact that I was going Tesco shopping and for some strange reason she loves going so I thought she just felt left out.

Whilst walking to play school I asked her why it was that she didn't want to go to play school and she said "no one plays with me". My heart broke. You never want your child to feel upset or lonely.
I think half the problem is is that Freya likes to play with the older children but of course all of the older children have now started primary school so she is now one of the older children.

I didn't know what to say to her, what can you say?? In the end I gave in and let her have the day off play school because I felt so bad for her. We left it that tomorrow we would go in and have a chat with her teacher and see if we can sort the problem out.

Have any of you had any heart breaking moments with your children yet??

Here comes the "back to school" illness

Does anyone else find that when their children have been off school for a while, when they eventually return the germs start coming back.??
Elise started to get a croaky voice at the weekend, just when we had a busy weekend of birthday parties and visiting. Now the runny nose has started, I am lucky that she copes quite well with illness and loves school that much she won't even consider having a day off.
My husband on the other hand is a typical man, slight sniff and he has man flu, this happened to start on the same day that Elise' croaky voice started, but of course he was "dying", had to have an afternoon nap, bless him.
Now silly as this sounds but I am hoping that we all catch the germs early this year as two years in a row we have all had the colds and sickness bugs right over the Christmas holidays, typical because it is my favourite time of the year!!!!
Hope everyone else is alright.

I'm a Secret Agent, really I am!!!!! For Puschair traders new online shop

imgres.jpg

How It Began
Well about a month ago Pushchair trader put a request on there Facebook page asking for some help, it was all very hush hush. We were asked to send an email explaining why would be good for the job of "secret agent".
You may have seen them put an article up on the site about some of the funny things people wrote. I have to say mine was quite boring in comparison to some. I said that I was good at hiding things from my husband like new nappies clothes etc and because I was a SAHM I would have the time to be near a computer when missions were sent.
I was lucky enough to be one of the 130 people chosen to help out with this special project which turned out to be Pushchair traders new online shop : http://shop.pushchairtrader.co.uk/

What They Decided To Do
They set out to create a location where you could find out about about all your favourite pushchair items and be able to buy them at the same time.I feel they have achieved this and more.

What You Will Find
You will find with each product they have put their own description instead of the ones you find on other sites, really making it their own. Pushchair trader will also be adding their own reviews as they try out the products themselves so you know exactly what you are getting before you buy it. There will also be a weekly product focus, concentrating on reviewing this one product as well as discounts or price reductions for the featured product.

In Conclusion
This is a great online store with brands such as Pink Lining, Lin and Leo, Ruby and Ginger, Bumprider, Lascal, Cosyozko, Buggysnuggle, Clippasafe, Buggy Buddy and many many more

They are providing you with all these things at reasonable prices with lots of information and fantastic customer services included.

And if all that wasn't good enough for you, to celebrate the opening of their online store Pushchair trader have launched an amazing competition to win an UppaBaby Vista and 12 different pushchair accessories worth over £800!!!!! Click here to enter.

Clever Elise

Well how proud am I. Elise had her first spelling test at school today and she passed with flying colours, she managed to spell them out  loud and write them down. She has obviously got her mummy's genes.

Officially an auntie

Well as of around 8pm last night I officially became an auntie. My older brother and sister in law had a baby boy who they named Jacob Douglas James, he came into the world weighing 6lb 14oz.
My girls are thrilled, they were looking at picture of him today and getting very excited. Elise is very much a little mummy, loves to look after everyone else so I think she is looking forward to cuddles with him.
Not quite sure how to feel really, I am happy for them but I don't feel the excitement that I did when having my own children.
Is there a certain way we should feel, am I normal??

Broody...

I am forever broody, I just can't help it. Everywhere I look there seem to be pregnant women.
Today my sister in law is in labour with her first child and do you know what, I am jealous!!! How bad is that.....
Hubby knows when I am feeling broody as I start watching all the baby programmes on the television again.
Why can't they stay little forever??

Time to break out super mum ......

Well as most of you will be aware mums aren't allowed to be ill. I have woken up this morning with a snotty nose, headache and a sore throat so it is time to break out super mum and soldier on regardless.
And typically the day I feel a bit rubbish the girls decide it might be a good time to misbehave!!!
Anyone have any good tips on how to just carry on?? This is when men and their man flu have it easy.

Sleepover time

Well last night Mr hazelden was on a night out down Bourenmouth with his work mates so I was left home alone with the kids.
We decided it would be movie/pamper night. I painted the girls nails, Elise had blue and Freya and Gracie had pink, mummy opted for black. We then all sat together on the sofa watching Ben and Hollys little kingdom ( is it wrong that I enjoy watching it?? lol ) whilst eating popcorn, crisps and cakes, yummy!!! Next time it's mummy's turn to pick what we watch.
The added bonus was that because they went to bed late, I got an extra hour in bed :- ) although that was cancelled out by the fact that I didn't go to sleep until 2am :- (

Fun at the fete....

Elise's school were holding a welcome back to school fete today and it just goes to show you can have a fun afternoon out without it being expensive. In total I spent £6.50 and out of this we managed to buy two books, Elise and Freya had their face painted, bouncy castle jumping, playing hook the boat and crisps, drinks and cakes for all three girls. And to top it off it was sunny!!! My only complaint of the day is that Gracie managed to spill her blackcurrant all over her nice white jacket, typical lol.

Why can't the weather make its mind up??

Well the weather at the moment is so frustrating!!!! I never know what to put on the kids. One minute it is windy and rainy so I'm getting out the wellies and the winter coats. Then when we are out and about the sun decides to come out of hiding and make an appearance, now the kids are sweltering and so am I. It feels like I need to take a second outfit out with me just incase. What happened to proper seasons??

I want doesn't get

How many times have you all heard this phrase?? I was always one of these people that said I would never be like mum, I would never say the things she said and now I found myself saying them all the time.
All of my children have come to the stage that when they see things on the adverts or see toys in the catalogue the favourite phrase "I want" is used on repeat. My middle child Freya is the funniest as she always uses the line "I want this for my birthday". I have lost track of how many toys she has got coming for her birthday now lol. Without fail though my favourite phrase comes out, "I want doesn't get", I even annoy myself when I say it.
Are there things you find yourself saying that you always said you wouldn't??

Mama, Gracie, Mama, Gracie, Mama . . . . .

It is a battle of wills, who is going to back down first, it feels as if we could go on all day. I don't think I am going to find out what this little monkey wants.
I am at the horrible stage where my 18 month old really wants to communicate with me but most of the time I have no clue as to what she actually wants, I end up nodding my head and just agreeing with her.
Has no-one invented a baby translator yet???

Sunday 11 September 2011

Sundays are for being lazy....

Even my kids agree with me that Sundays are a lazy day where you sit around in your pyjamas and try to do as little as possible.
My husband and I were just trying to convince the kids to go and get dressed and have a play in the garden and the response we got was "do we have to?" Lol.
Although the traditional Sunday lie in vanished a long time ago, 6.30am is wake up time every day of the week. Maybe I can convince my lovely children that Sunday afternoon naps are the future!!!

What's for dinner today??

Does anyone else find that making something for dinner that pleases everyone difficult? What one child wants the other child suddenly decides that they no longer like that, then the husband also decides that they want something different as well. There is also the issue of cost as food these days doesn't come cheap. I am always on the look out for recipes or variations on things that I already make.
Today I think I actually managed to please the whole Hazelden household. I cooked homemade burgers consisting of beef mince, tomato puree and mixed herbs. Also helps when Elise says mum you are the best cook, I know I'm not but it is always nice to hear!!!!
So what about everyone else, any good recipes you would like to share??.......

What is the secret????

Well after almost 6 years and three children I still haven't found the secret to keeping a clean and tidy house whilst entertaining a child, especially when the child happens to be teething.
Every day I start out with all the good intentions of getting the house work done but by the end of the day I always seem to have more to do than what I started out with.! This I feel is because of one word........ Mama.
How can I ignore that word, especially when I look at the little person of whom the word came out of.
Does the solution really exist or are all us parents out there destined to have half tidy houses until the kids get older?

It's a new day.....

Well this my first entry on my first ever blog and I am not sure where to begin. . . . . . . . .

I'm Chantelle, mama to Gracie, mummy to Freya and mum to Elise. I have been a SAHM since having Elise almost 6 years ago and I have loved every moment of it.

It is currently 1am and I am sat downstairs wide awake wondering why I am still up considering my day begins in 5 hours!!!!???
