Got My Bikini So I'm #BeachBodyReady Right?

I think when a lot of us try to lose weight, tone up etc, we have an ultimate goal in mind. Infact I didn't just have a singular goal, I kind of had a bit of a list but ultimately it all added up to wanting to feel comfortable in my own skin. One of my targets was to be confident enough to wear a bikini on holiday, to get rid of that feeling of wanting to cover up.

Now I'm sure it didn't escape your attention when there was a media frenzy over a particular image and slogan.

I can see things from different angles. Ultimately many people had what I think is a valid reason to feel upset as the above photo doesn't represent the masses but on the flip side I feel sorry for the model, I personally think she has a fab body (really, I'd love her body) and it wasn't fair for her to start being criticised over a companies choice of advertising.

But some good came out of this campaign. It started giving women the confidence to not only speak out but show off their bodies which lets be honest are all beach ready!!

I'm not ashamed to admit that since having kids I've not had the confidence to just don a teeny tiny bikini. Even though I'm proud of the reasons my body have changed, I would say I was almost embarrassed by the way I have been left looking after four pregnancies but lovely ladies around the globe have shown me that this needn't be the case.

Unfortunately I don't have enough money to have a holiday this year but recent posts by Honest Mum and Mummy Tries have inspired me to get that bikini on anyway.

Below is the bikini I normally opt for, it's high waisted so as not to show off all those lumps and bumps.

Next year , when fingers crossed I will have a holiday, I'm hoping I can be brave enough to wear a different kind of bikini and show off my body and all its perfectly good flaws with confidence (not just infront of the mirror).

At the end of the day we are all #beachbodyready regardless of what shape or size we are and if we all start sharing the same sentiment then they'll be no need for embarassment or worry. We all have the right to feel good in our skin, I wish I'd started realising this sooner!!

  1. You look great! I think we're always more critical of our own bodies and find it hard to see just how great we actually look for finding the flaws that others don't see. Xx

  5. Brave post. I don't mind putting on my bikini abroad as I feel more confident then with nobody around that I know. I think being bikini ready is all about confidence and I am sure that girl has confidence in her swimwear as do many others any size. I personally didn't get offended by the poster as they aren't saying your not beach ready if you don't look like her.

  10. You look fantastic! Especially in that second photo - you definitely have no reason to cover up. I know what it's like though, you'd probably say similar about me but I'd rather have my stomach covered up! Thanks so much for linking up with #TwinklyTuesday

  13. Fair play to you. I have absolutely no desire to wear a bikini but I always was a one piece girl even before three C sections!

Hope you get the chance to have a lovely holiday next year so you can show off the peachy coloured bikini (or is it pink?) you are definitely #beachbodyready!! 16. You look fab - i love the high waisted bikini - I'm going out bikini shopping in a couple of weeks and I'm going to look for one that style! The thing is, I don't feel confident in my bikini or proud. I look at myself and think I ought to have worked harder at working out and weight loss. Maybe by next summer I'll feel proud in my bikini!
