Turning From a Toddler Into a Threenager

Today my youngest daughter turns the grand old age of three and I would like to know where the last year went? It seems like yesterday when my baby was turning into a toddler. I'm happy to report that we've survived the terrible two's (just) and now we are venturing into the year of the threenager.

Having had three other children you would think that I'd be fully prepared for what lies ahead but I can tell you that I am certainly not.

My family and friends will tell you that Layla is unlike her sisters in all ways. I tried to warn playschool before she started but they didn't take my warning to heart. Layla's butter wouldn't melt face had them all fooled.

My youngest has shown me that what I thought was the terrible two's really wasn't….

Her paddy's can rival a teenagers with ease, she can be unbelievably defiant, strong willed shall we say and I'd hate to be the one put against her in a fight, her backhand is strong!!!

Layla has grown up to be very independent (not always a bad thing) because of the influence of her older sisters. This tiny girl knows what she wants and boy does she expect to get it. We are currently at the stage of what's mine is mine and what's yours is also mine.

I would say that she rules the roost and I'm sure there are many who would agree, for someone so little she sure is feisty.

However for all of her moments (I have to remember she's learning, to have patience, repeats mantra), she really does complete our family in the best way and I wouldn't have her any other way and neither would her sisters, especially Freya, I'd call these two partners in crime sometimes.

Over the past year her character has grown enormously and when she's not being a little monkey I can't deny how funny and entertaining Layla can be. And her fashion sense is amazing too wouldn't you say, wink wink.

This troublesome little lady can charm anyone who meets her, I mean she already has herself two boyfriends, poor Blake and Reggie.

Her smile and laughter are infectious and some of the things she says you can't help but chuckle. One of her latest ones was when I asked her to go and sit on the toilet before we went out, her reply, "there's no wee in my bum mum", oversharing much.

She has this unique ability to make you smile even if she is in a bad mood herself, quite a talent.

Now as I sit and prepare to watch her open presents and eat birthday cake, I realise that I have the year of the three to look forward to and with my eldest daughter already acting like a hard done by teenager I have a feeling that I'm in for a rollercoaster of a time.

Here's to emotions galore. Goodbye toddler, it's been a journey. Hello threenager, I'm ready for the ride.

xxxx

  6. My son has just turn four so we have emerged from the threenager stage and thankfully I have survived!! Oliver is pretty much the same though! Stubborn, fiesty, independent and sometimes infuriating! I wouldn't have him any other way though!...well..maybe sometimes! ;)
