Vtech Flipsies Review

Vtech have recently launched a fantastic range of toys called Flipsies. These clever little playsets are like two toys in one. Like the name suggests you can flip the toy over to become a different place, object, person etc…

There are quite a few characters to choose from, these include : Clementine, Eva, Carina, Jazz, Lexi, Grace, Styla and Sandy.

Aimed at kids aged 4-7, these dolls each have jobs to do but aspire to do something else and Flipsies makes this possible.

We were sent Clementine who runs an ice cream cart but she dreams of becoming a baker. Each set comes complete with 10 accessories. Clementine has a change in hair/clothes, ice creams and kitchen utensils (smaller items not suitable for under threes).

The hair and clothes are made of a rubber material and are easily bent, stretched etc without the fear of them snapping making it simple for even younger children to change the doll independently. My eldest compared the purple haired Clementine to Katy Perry.

What I didn't realise until we started putting the toy together was that it actually makes sounds which was a nice surprise. Lots of phrases and sound effects add an extra element to the game play and with lights flashing as well, there is a lot more than meets the eye to Flipsies.

Being able to flip from baker to ice cream seller and vice versa allows for different game play and gets little ones imaginations running wild. I like the idea of looking at different jobs that can be done too. Whether they are the job you do in real life or something you are dreaming of doing, it gives the message that you can do anything you put your mind to.

Transforming from the ice cream cart to the kitchen takes less than a minute and there are no small or fiddly parts that need clipping or unclipping, I can't be the only parent that hates putting toys together! And the little details on the pictures are a lovely touch.

The dolls themselves are posable with arms moving and you can make Clementine bend at the waist too. You also have the option of placing objects in her hand so she can hold kitchen utensils or eat an ice cream mmmm.

This is a toy that actually encourages children to believe that you can do whatever you want in life (as long as you work for it that is), anything is possible. With so many characters to collect, it is a great set to build on, my kids have kindly informed me that they will be requesting more from Santa at Christmas.

Priced at £9.99 each, I'd say they are reasonably priced especially seen as you are technically getting two toys for the price of one. They certainly get the imaginations working and they are great to play with alone or as a group the more you obtain.

My only complaint is that it would be nice to see male characters introduced to the range as I think these are toys that girls and boys will enjoy playing with so you should both genders of characters available to purchase.
