My Sunday Photo 2016 #3

There seems to be a running theme this year when it comes to My Sunday Photo so far, the sky. I suppose the trouble is that we have been so cooped up due to the on going horrid weather that there isn't an awful lot else to photograph. But I'm not complaining because the view isn't a bad one at all, quite peaceful.

This shot was actually taken last Sunday around about 3pm, the afternoon but it certainly looked like it could be nearing the evening. It had been raining yet again so there were grey clouds looming but you could see the sun trying to break through in the distance. I love the way the light gave different colours to the clouds, hints of different shades of blue throughout the depressing grey. I think they almost look like waves.

Interestingly there was actually a lightning storm happening during this time but the bolts of lightning were shooting through the sky on the other side of the house where I didn't have the best view to take photos from. My kids were amazed that there could be lightning without the thunder booming afterwards, this was something they'd not experienced before. It showed them just how fascinating the change in weather can be.

Here's hoping for bluer skies next week.

  1. That's a very dramatic looking sky. Amazing how it can already appear so dark at 3pm. I can't wait for the spring!

  6. Lovely sky - though those clouds do look a bit sinister to me...
