My Sunday Photo 2016 #11

On Monday I had parents evening for all of my girls. Not to be big headed but I was pretty confident that they would all be doing well as I've never had trouble when it comes to them reading or doing homework but it's always nice to have your thoughts confirmed.

I was absolutely right and couldn't be more proud as all of them are well on track to at least reach all targets expected of them if not exceed them although these targets make little sense but I'll get onto my rant about the curriculum in another posts.

The one that made me laugh was my 8 year old. Freya is a girl after my own heart at home, full of attitude and always knows best but at school apparently she is nothing but polite and always willing to help others, now to transfer school Freya to home Freya!

But of course my children like any others have some issues to work on. My 6 year old is a creature of comfort, she's not big on change. Now she really needs to go up to the higher group on maths but she doesn't want to change teacher so she's so far been kept in the same group, we've had to come to a sort of arrangement to get her moving, that means her teacher will be moving with her, cheeky!

And then there is my darling eldest. The above picture is of a poem she wrote recently, she's always been very creative, she is keen to be an author of sorts when she grows up but her issues don't really stem from the work itself, it is more to do with her emotions. She's not a fan of being wrong and she is lacking in the ability to take criticism well.

This is actually the first parents evening I've been to when they say there's been a significant change. Elise still pouts (her blue steel look as I like to call it) when she's told maybe she could change her work etc but she doesn't argue the fact quite as much.

What I find quite strange is that all of my girls seem to favour English over Maths, I'm thinking they must all take after their dad because as much as I enjoy reading I was always a Maths kind of girl.

  1. Sounds like a great parents' evening and that's a lovely poem. I'm surprised that maths was your thing as you're such a big reader.
