Surviving Christmas With a Little Help From Room to Grow

With only three more Saturdays until Christmas arrives, I'm sure there are lots of you already panicking about presents that you need to buy, decorations that you'd like to put up and just how you are going to manage to entertain everyone on the day itself. As much as this is my favourite time of the year, I have to admit that surviving Christmas can be hard sometimes, those stress levels definitely run high. So with a little help from Room to Grow I'm going to share with you my 5 top tips on how to not turn into scrooge this December, keeping that festive spirit alive.

1. Plan ahead

Organisation is most definitely key when it comes to Christmas. I  tend to buy presents all year round, grab things when they are in the sale, stockpile smaller gifts incase someone I didn't expect hands me a gift. I keep a note of just what I've bought, who it is for and just where I've hidden it (I've been known to lose presents before).

2. Wrap as you go

Wrapping as you buy saves you from finding so many hiding places as the paper hides what gifts are inside, gives you the excuse to have little tipple of something each time you decide to have a wrapping session and thanks to my survival kit I now won't be left in despair when my roll of sticky tape comes to an end whilst I wrap all of the presents up.

3. Don't worry what others are doing

There seems to be a craze in recent years to go mad with spending and everyone tries to keep up with the Jonses. It's worth remembering that Christmas isn't all about the gifts, it's more about who you are spending the time with, the memories you make are priceless. Stick to a budget that works for you and know that it is most definitely the thought that counts.

4. Keep it fun

'The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear'. Turn those Christmas tunes up (Michael Buble for the win), write your letters to Santa and put as many Christmas decorations up as you can, we all know everything can be made better with a spot of glitter! To all you scrooges out there I say Bah Humbug!

And if all else fails....

5. Have alcohol on standby

They say that Christmas is a time to eat, drink and be merry. So if you find that it all gets a bit too much take that saying quite literally and have a glass of mulled wine or three. I like to start my Christmas day with a glass of Bucks Fizz and I find it makes everything that little more enjoyable. And of course if you are unable to drink alcohol I find it's fun to pretend with a nice bit of Schloer poured into a wine glass.

I was sent a survival kit from Room to Grow in exchange for this post however all thoughts and opinions are my own.

  1. That survival kit is fab, what a clever little idea. I am so disorganised for Christmas this year as we have just moved and I still have so much shopping to do and to buy a new tree as mine got lost in the move. Xx
