My Sunday Photo 2016 #5

I think the above photo somes up my week quite nicely. It has been a busy one filled with birthdays, friends and family and I will say that my mood has changed significantly from Monday to right now. At the start of the week I have to admit I felt rather down, it was my 2nd daughter's 8th birthday and after selling my last pushchair at the weekend, the feeling of my kids getting older too quick was quite over whelming for me.

My January Favourites

january favourites

This year I wanted to focus on more personal posts and bring you more of the things I love and one way I'm going to that is with monthly favourites. At the end of each month I am going to compile a list of things I've loved and share them with you. It will be a mixture of all sorts of recommendations, things you may then wish to go and try, read of listen to yourselves. So sit back with a cuppa, a slice of cake would be good too and have a read of my January favourites.

Getting Creative With Jucee

creative-with-jucee

I'll admit my children probably think I'm quite a mean mum when it comes to drinks. I send them to school with bottles of water and they rarely have anything except water or milk when at home but if they are going on school trips or we decide to have a picnic etc then I like to opt from squashes and juices that are more naturally flavoured rather than topped up with lots of sugar.

Smiggle Stationery Review

smiggle stationery

Last year I had the privilege of working with Smiggle, a company that both my girls and I absolutely love, so when  I was asked if I would like to review a variety of some of their newer ranges I may have squealed a little and I wasn't expecting the delivery that we received.

Saying Goodbye To The Baby Days

growing up quote

With only a few hours left before I turn the grand old age of thirty I've come to the realisation that as I'm getting older so are my girls (I know this should have been obvious). At the weekend I sold my last remaining pushchair and with that I said goodbye to the baby days because there is now nothing left in my house that we used when they were little. It is kind of a bitter sweet moment as I'm not entirely sure that I was ready to leave that part of my life behind.

My Sunday Photo 2016 #4

Last Saturday whilst my seven year old was out with a friend, the rest of us decided to go out for a walk. You all must have noticed the cold temperatures bbbrrrr, but we were determined not to be cooped up all weekend like we had been in previous weeks. It seemed strange going out with only three out of four children but it is happening more often these days now that they are getting older.

Getting Lean In 2016

getting fit with garmin forerunner

Last year I made a conscious effort to take on more of a healthy lifestyle., exercising more and eating a more balanced diet. I was quite proud of the fact that come Christmas I wasn't a big bloated mess like I had been the previous year, I'd managed to lose around a stone over the course of the year and I was in fact still exercising, even if it wasn't as often as I would have wanted to. My aim for this year is much the same but I'm also interested in getting lean, toning up those muscles and being able to show them off.

January Book Of The Month - Waiting For Wyatt

waiting for wyatt book cover

I said at the beginning of the year that I would be writing more personal book reviews, of ones that I've bought rather than just of ones sent to me. So I'm kicking things off with a review of SD Hendrickson's latest novel, Waiting For Wyatt. I really enjoyed The Mason List so this book was highly anticipated for me.

Chicken Dance Book Review

chicken dance book cover

Just before Christmas we were sent a lovely new book to read and review, Chicken Dance (£5.99) by Tammi Sauer. Before even beginning the story, the books cover had myself and my girls highly entertained with mention of Elvis Poultry on the back, he looked like a really cool dude.

Time To Wake Up Ready

kalms night

It's a new year which of course means many of you have set yourselves some resolutions, things to improve or change. Well I didn't actually set myself any goals this year but one thing I knew could do with improving was my sleeping habits. So when I was asked if I would like to join in with Kalms Night 'Wake Up Ready' campaign I decided that I had nothing to lose.

A Birthday Wishlist

birthday wishlist

My birthday is fast approaching and it's an important one, you know 29 +1. Typically we don't really celebrate my birthday, for two reasons one being that it is in January and everyone has their excuses of no money, not drinking etc and two because other peoples money gets spent on my kids instead of me (something which I don't begrudge!). However this doesn't stop me window shopping like I did at Christmas.

My Sunday Photo 2016 #3

There seems to be a running theme this year when it comes to My Sunday Photo so far, the sky. I suppose the trouble is that we have been so cooped up due to the on going horrid weather that there isn't an awful lot else to photograph. But I'm not complaining because the view isn't a bad one at all, quite peaceful.

Blogging By Numbers

blogging by numbers

When I started blogging way back in 2011 I didn't have a clue what I was doing. My layout was as basic as you could get and my posts were mere sentences long but my blog wasn't for anyone else per say, it was my way of getting the thoughts out of my head, a hobby to keep my mind ticking over. So really I had no need to care about what anyone else thought of my blog, I didn't think about who could be reading it. But that's how blogging was for most I think, it was fun, not about money making as it seems to be these days.

The Book Of You Review

the book of you

I happened to mention on my blog at the start of the year that I wasn't making any resolutions, I don't deem them necessary, I'll make changes if and when I want to. Then I was recently selected by Mumsnet to review The Book of You and it occured to me that this is what this book is all about, small steps leading to bigger changes but done on your terms.

My Sunday Photo 2016 #2

I think this photograph manages to sum up our whole week. We have been so lucky weather wise in recent months, I mean up until now the temperatures have been oh so mild and most of us haven't had to contend with a lot of bad weather at all. January obviously decided to change things up a little.

Doing Away With The Resolutions

happy new year

Hello 2016. I don't know about you but every year I do the same as most and set myself some new years resolutions/goals and I can almost guarantee that the majority of the population (myself included) won't stick with them, realistically we'll be lucky to reach the end of the first week in January.
