Read With Me 2016 #9

read with me linky

Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks Read With Me. Firstly a big thank you to everyone that linked up last week! Can you believe that we are just about to leave February, have you managed to do much reading this month? I'm already over a quarter of the way through my Good Reads target of reading 100 books this year, one advantage to the husband working away so often I suppose.

My Sunday Photo 2016 #9

wellies and puddles

It's been another week of utterly rubbish weather. Lots of rain and cold temperatures, yes I know it's Winter but a little sunshine would be nice. This of course has meant that the school runs have been indeed been rather wet, much to my youngest's delight as she's popped on her wellies and gone splashing in as many muddy puddles as she possibly can.

My February Favourites

It's nearing the end of the month so it must be about time for me to share with you some of the things I've been loving this month. In keeping with the general theme of my blog my choices are varied and there's a mix of food, beauty, books and even a bit of music thrown in for good measure. Here are my February favourites.

February Book Of The Month - Elizabeth Is Missing

elizabeth is missing

Can you believe that we are almost at the end of February already? Well the end of the month means time to choose my favourite book again. I was actually given a Waterstones voucher for my birthday so I decided to buy a couple of novels that I've had recommend to me time and time again. One of those happened to be Elizabeth Is Missing by Emma Healey.

The Shadow Keeper Book Review

the shadow keeper by abi elphinstone

Last year I was lucky enough to review Abi Elphinstone's debut book, The Dreamsnatcher. Well she's only gone and released a new novel, The Shadow Keeper and I was keen to see whether it was as magical as her first efforts.

The Little Guide To Science Book Review

the little guide to science book

I am very lucky that my children have always been keen learners and they are eager to extend what they know further so any books to do with education automatically appeal to them. The Little Guide To Science is  no exception. It is essentially an interactive book which begins to explain certain scientific wonders to kids in a way that will not only appeal to those already budding science lovers but will also help encourage those who may not be so interested in the subject to begin with.

The Day I Picked My Husband's Clothes

dressing the husband

I love clothes and shoes and although I do like to keep an eye on the latest fashion trends I'm a big fan of dressing in what you like rather than being dictated to. This is one reason why I love having girls as I always get to choose such wonderful outfits for them but keeping their personalities shining through. Now my husband is a different ball game altogether, he has his own tastes (which is fine) but it makes it extremely difficult to buy clothing for him as it makes him kind of fussy.

Welcome to this weeks Read With Me, the linky where you can link up and book/reading related posts which you might have. Thank you to everyone that managed to link up last week!. I actually went to a book shop myself last week and picked up a couple of new books, Elizabeth is Missing and I Let You Go. I'll be mentioning one of these in this months book of the month post.

My Sunday Photo 2016 #8

Seems we have been stuck indoors more often than not lately. Cold and wet weather is off putting enough but my girls have also been struck down with coughs and colds galore which makes me want to keep them indoors even more. It's just that time of year isn't it!

5 Reasons Why Having All Girls Rocks

5 reasons why having girls rocks

When my husband and I began to have children I have to confess that I always wanted a girl first, and even when we went on to have three more girls, I was never bothered by the fact that we didn't have a son. Even though so many people assumed that our continued conveyor belt of children was because we were trying for a boy, it really wasn't, that was just because I absolutely love being a mum. I'm not saying that having a son wouldn't have been nice but there are so many reasons why having all girls rocks that I don't think our family is missing anything. Here are just 5 of those reasons…

Family Dinner Time at The Beefeater

dining out at the beefeater

Last year my family and I were lucky enough to be given the chance to eat out at our local Beefeater. Since that time, The Plough has been refurbished so I was asked if we'd like to return and see the new look for ourselves. Now it isn't often we get to eat out as restaurant meals tend to cost a fair amount for our family of six. We were again given £50 towards our meal which made dining out a lot more affordable.

Bratz Remix Doll Review and Giveaway

My girls are definitely big fans of Bratz dolls, they were lucky enough to get the chance to review the range last year when they made their superb comeback and now they are back again with a brand new style and accessories to match, introducing the Remix range.

My Sunday Photo 2016 #7

Ok so this wasn't a photo taken by me and I'm sure my lovely husband won't be so thrilled about me sharing his selfie but I wanted to talk a little about him today seen as it is Valentine's day so I felt a photo of him would be appropriate. Be prepared for a bit of a soppy post.

Sleep Is Good Books Are Better

sleep is good but books are better

Books have always been a huge part of my life and I'm a firm believer that everyone should read them, if not a book than atleast a magazine, something to get the cogs turning. I remember being jealous of my older brother when he used to bring home reading books from school, I was still in nursery at the time. I desperately wanted to be reading the "big kid" books too. And when the time came for me to progress to those types of books, (you know ones with chapters and less illustrations), I was forever getting in lost in their worlds. My mum probably lost count of the amount of times she had to tell me to put the book down and go to sleep, there was plenty of times I was known to accidently not hear her.

Movie Night With Maya The Bee

maya the bee dvd

In our house we have a few regular traditions, one of them being movie night. Every Friday we get the snacks ready and pick out a film that we can all watch together as a family. It is a time where there are no other distractions, phones get put down and we all get some quality time together. Well last week our film choice was made for us when we were offered the chance to view Maya the Bee before it buzzed onto shops shelves this week.

Hey That's My Fish Game Review

Hey That's My Fish game

As a family, we love a good board game. I think it is good to take a step away from modern technology sometimes so I'm always on the look out for new games to play. The most recent game we've been playing is Hey That's My Fish! (£9.99) This a game for 2 - 4 players and it involves a bit of stategy in order to win.

What Women Really Want For Valentine's Day

what women really want for valentine's day

Valentine's day also known as St Valentine's day is a celebration which occurs every February 14th, a day typically associated with the notion of love and romance and it sees both men and women sending cards and gifts to their significant others, spending money that they probably don't have.

Read With Me 2016 #6

read with me badge

Hello you lovely lot and welcome to this weeks Read With Me. I hope you are all well and you've had a chance to read a good book. I've been trying to keep things interesting lately, picking authors I've not heard of before, choosing stories that are a bit different to the normal genres I gravitate towards.

My Sunday Photo 2016 #6

The above photo is what happens when the threenager manages to get hold of your phone, I have to say it isn't a bad attempt for her first selfie but it could do with some work, slight change of angle, perhaps the hand could do with moving over… I'm only joking.

Siblings (February)

The siblings project is a linky run by Dear Beautiful, each month you get to link up a photo of your children and of course see and read about other siblings at the same time. I kept seeing posts for this project pop up in my social media timelines last year but time always got away from me.

The Wizard of Oz Book Review

the wizard of oz

Just before Christmas I was sent a wonderful book to review, a collection of the first five novels of The Wizrd of Oz stories. Now I'll admit this is something I've not read before, of course I have watched the films but this was when I was a child, not like now when I much prefer to read the books before I view the movies.

Read With Me 2016 #5

read with me linky

Hello everyone, welome to this weeks Read With Me. I'll admit time got away with me last week and I didn't really manage to read anything, unless you count some Lego instructions. Between birthdays, family visiting and drinks out I've really just not felt like reaching for a book, which doesn't happen very often I must say.
