My Sunday Photo 2017 #8

The feeling of being appreciated is a really good one. It is one where you suddenly believe that all your efforts have been more than worth while and I definitely got that feeling last week from a couple of my work colleagues.

I've been volunteering at my girls primary school since September now as well being a midday supervisor up there. My volunteering has been based in just one class so I've got to know the children and the teachers in there really well so although I'm kept busy all of the time I have been really enjoying myself .

Well just before half term I was presented with this lovely bunch of flowers from the teaching assistant and a nice box of chocolates from the teacher which I begrudgingly shared with my children.

Such a simple gesture but one that really put a smile on my face, so thoughtful and utterly unexpected. I've gained so much from that school since I started volunteering.

It's strange to think that just last year I'd been a stay at home mum for eleven years and although being a mum is rewarding it was a different sort of satisfaction that I got from that, this feels like I've gained something more just for me and I would like to think as these people that I work with as more than just colleagues but as friends too.

  2. How lovely! You've committed so much time, no wonder they value you, but it must feel really nice to be appreciated.

  3. Sounds like you're loving it and shame you couldn't hide the chocs away ;) but I'm sure you'll get many more boxes to come. It's definitely a different kind of satisfaction doing things for yourself!
