Learning to Read Made Easy With Reading Eggs

Books are such an important part of anyones life, I bought books for my kids before they were even born. Having someone read to you is great, it builds up your language and you begin to understand certain things however there is nothing quite like being able to read a book by yourself. The process of learning to read can be a tricky one, a frustrating time for some children so sometimes a little extra help is needed and this is where Reading Eggs can come in handy.

I'd previously used a 4 week free trial with my now 7 year old but by the time we'd started using it she was already reading fairly fluently but when I was recently asked if I would like to review the service I knew it would really benefit my 4 year old. Layla is one of the younger children in her class, being a July baby she didn't have the best attention span when starting school, she didn't know any of the alphabet so it was a case of starting from scratch and at times it was hard to get her to concentrate.

When I was given the opportunity to review Reading Eggs we were also sent the mega book pack to use alongside the online programme to really extend her learning to the fullest. Reading Eggs aims to teach your child to read through a series of games, songs, golden eggs and rewards and let me tell you it really works, my youngest daughter has become quite eager to learn and is the one asking me to continue with her next lesson rather than the other way around.

This learn to read programme is a great motivator to the reluctant reader, it is fun and engaging and the best thing is with tests used when you sign up, it is set to the level which your child has reached so is best tailored their learning journey. When we began our journey with Reading Eggs Layla had already learnt most of her phonic sounds but what the activities did was reinforce this learning and gave her the confidence to continue learning.

The mega book pack which we were sent is their BEST VALUE PACK. It contains all of the Level 1 and Level 2 books for lessons 1-80 of the Reading Eggs programme. The pack includes 80 reading books + 400 stickers, 8 mini posters, 8 Activity Books and two packs of durable Flashcards with games. Used alongside the online programme they are a great visual aid for when you can't get on the computer and I think if your child is like mine the stickers are a great motivator to do just that little bit more.

With a 12 month subscription costing a small £39.95 for the year (that's less than £3.40 a month), I believe it is well worth every penny spent. The subscription includes 120 reading lessons, 96 spelling lessons, over 200 comprehension lessons and over 2000 e-books in their online library so you are getting a lot for your money and as I said near the beginning of my post, it really does work!

Now if you like the sound of Reading Eggs they are currently offering a 2 week free trial to the online subscription, and the link to register for the trial is www.readingeggs.co.uk/blogpr17 (until March 31st 2017), I highly recommend that you try it out!

  5. What a brilliant Idea! I used to leave finished books on trains and in cafes when I finished them and loved the idea of people finding them and enjoying the book themselves! #readwithme

  10. I have three summer babies and they were always a little slower at school being the youngest in their classed (one was born the end of August!) They do catch up eventually though. Reading Eggs looks like a great idea and great value too!
