Putting a Little Fun Into Periods With the Bettybox

Periods, every woman gets them at some point in their lives yet it still seems to be a sort of taboo subject, one of embarrassment. I remember vividly the day my period started, my mum was working nights and I was at home with my two brothers. Honest to god I thought I was dying and my poor older brother had no idea what to do, we ended up having to get my mum to come back home. A lot of drama, all because my mum hadn't every really broached the subject with me.

Having four daughters, I wanted to be open and honest with them from the beginning. They all know when I'm on my period, the younger two saying that mummy has got blood, ok not the most appeasing way to say it but they have a rough understanding of what is going on. And my older two at eleven and nine know exactly what is happening, I wrote a post about my talk on periods with them a couple of years ago.

Now my almost twelve year is what I'd like to call a tween, the teen years are imminent and the hormones are definitely kicking in. Her period hasn't started yet but I want her to be prepared because we all know that they can happen any time and any where. So she already carries a little starter pack around in her bag for that 'just in case' moment. And this is also where the bettybox is coming in handy.

The bettycollective as they are known over social media want to put a bit of fun into the whole periods and puberty moments in life for girls and this is where there bettybox subscription boxes are here to help. Delivered to your door every month (with free postage), these boxes contain everything from the essentials like sanitary towels and tampons to the treats that girls need to help them relax when their hormones have decided to rage.

These treats include beauty products, stationery, tasty goodies and over all fun surprises. My eldest was kindly sent November's box to see what it was like for herself, she was impressed, I was jealous. I honestly wish that I could have had something like this when I was younger, a bit of TLC is always appreciated. The treats in this months box included a chocolate brownie mug mix, a foot scrub and a fantastic pair of bryt socks.

What I like about these boxes is that they can be tailored to your specific needs so you can choose either tampons, sanitary towels or both, even picking the flow type required depending on your needs and preferences. You pick the date of delivery to coincide with when your time of the month is. And thinking of everything, you even get provided with a cool drawstring bag to pop those essentials in so they can be discreet yet stylish when put in your bag.

At a cost of £12.99 a month, the bettybox is well worth the money in my opinion. Cute, useful, a girls best friend in the making. It may even have you actually looking forward to that monthly visitor. And if that wasn't good enough, I suggest you take the time to check out the betty.me site as they also offer plenty of advice and tips about body, life, style and so much more. Not only great for teenagers but for women in general. Go and check them out now.
