Lakeland Furniture Stanton Desk Review

lakeland-furniture-review

Since buying our home almost a year and a half ago we have been slowly improving things around the house, changing and adding furniture, making it our own. Something I have been nagging my husband about since we moved in is getting a desk so that I can have my own space, somewhere to do my blogging without getting distracted from things like the TV. So it seemed like fate when Lakeland Furniture got in contact to see if I'd like to review something from their site, the minute I spotted the Stanton Desk I knew that I had to have it.

This desk is currently priced at £139.99 and comes in two colour choices, light wood or white. Since our dining room furniture is all white and that was where the desk was to be placed I opted for the white version. Complete with plenty of storage space, including a cupboard, a drawer and shelving, it looks like the ideal solution for a work space.

First off I have to say I was impressed straight away with Lakeland Furniture before I'd even received the product as I received a phone call the day before the item arrived to confirm the day of delivery, even providing me with a two hour time slot, which was completely accurate. This meant I didn't need to waste a whole day waiting in for the desk to arrive.

My husband will tell you that the desk wasn't the easiest to put together, it is probably more of a two man job but my husband persevered and built it by himself, looking at the instructions when he got a little lost. Taking just under 2 hours in total,  I thought  he was rather speedy for doing it independently, I can be honest and say that as a person who is totally useless with a screwdriver, I wouldn't have completed putting it together without help.

Now the Stanton Desk is described as a multi position desk. This is because the main desk is actually left unattached from the shelving, allowing you to either position it as a corner unit if you are short on space or as I have positioned it, as a standard desk.

Because of where we decided to place the desk my husband also did a bit of modernising himself, being a carpenter comes in handy, he cut one hole at the bottom and one and the top, allowing for easier access to plug sockets and allowing for the laptop cable to slot up through without looking untidy.

What I love is that in the standard position you are able to pull the desk out and extend it, this extra length means that my children are able to sit alongside each other and do their work/colouring at the same time rather than having to wait their turn. And because is wide as well as long, there is more than enough space to spread out any paperwork and stationery. It is easy to extend (I mean even I can do it), simply lift and slide, the same for putting it back to its original state.

All that was left to do once the desk had been put together was decorating it. I mean I wanted it to look good when not in use and of course a little inspiration around when I'm writing is nice too. We actually went out and bought a desk chair the day of delivery, managing to pick up a bargain from Staples, the chair is that comfy it has also now been made into my reading chair too.

I wasted no time in filling up the storage space. Something else I'm in desperate need of is book shelves so some of my books are taking up the shelves for now and all my "junk" is now in a state of organised mess in storage baskets. At least I know where everything is, like all my notebooks, pens and various other very useful objects.

The desk has a very classic look to it but with my own personal touches it has now had a bit of a modern makeover. Perfect for any size room because of how it can be adapted, I would highly recommend it. Although you can see from the photo below that once I'd finished putting it together how I wanted it that the kids have already managed to take over so I'm pretty sure that my kids also recommend it too!

  4. Home office furniture desks are work areas but it can be beautiful as well. It's really a chance to find your perfect design aesthetic on a budget.
