A Minnie Makeover

Ever since we moved into our house the small bedroom has always been the "baby" room. This means that the original Winnie the Pooh bedding, curtains etc have never been changed. Over time this bedroom has also become the junk storage room, I was beginning to forget what the original space looked like.

One of my goals this year was to make a few home improvements and I thought the best place to begin was Layla's room seen as she is no longer my baby, closer to a toddler these days.

Here is what the room looked like before I began to wade my way through the mess :

You can see from the picture above that we couldn't even shut the drawer and the wardrobe properly as it was filled to the brim.

Layla's favourite character of recent months has been Minnie Mouse so we decided to give her bedroom a Minnie makeover. We had already made a start before Christmas, I'm sure you can see Minnie peeking through the clutter.

The picture below shows Layla's room once the makeover was complete :

Lots of changes were made, none of them major but I feel they made a huge difference.

* We swapped the cot and changer round which opened up the room a bit more.

* Curtains, bedding and light shade now completely Minnie.

* I added a book corner, complete with my cuddly elephant that is a young 28 years old himself!!

* The changer is now clutter free and in its place the very handy bunny night light and of course Minnie mouse to watch over Layla.

With the Minnie makeover complete, I was sad to see all of the Winnie the Pooh removed from the room, reminded me that my girls really are all growing up however it is nice to see that Layla now has a proper space of her own to not only sleep in but play in too.

How are your children's rooms decorated, do they have a particular theme??

  4. That looks lovely! Boo's room is mainly pink, and Little Man's is the M&P Gingerbread range, that Boo had, so I'll look forward to giving him a proper toddler room later in the year when it's time for him to move into a bed :) #MMWBH
