My favourite book of last week has to be The Dark Light of Day written by T M Frazier.
The product description warns you that this is not your typical romance and reading through the reviews before I purchased it, I was expecting something slightly darker than what I usually read.
The story follows the relationship of Abby and Jake.
Abby is a girl that had has issues, moved in and out of foster homes due to parental problems, it isn't until she finally moves in with her nan that her life seems to look that little bit brighter.
Jake has had his fair share of troubles, losing both his mother and brother, he leaves the family home at a young age when things with his father turn from bad to worse.
The two come to meet when Jake comes back to his home town to sort out the family business and Abby sadly loses not only her nan but her home too and is found sleeping on the premises of Jake's family business.
Both characters have somewhat troubled souls, a dark side to them. There are two lines in the book that explain the depths of their darkness extremely well, "I fell asleep that night in the arms of a killer, I'd never slept better" and "sick, twisted Abby was in love with the sick, twisted, beautiful Jake". Got to love a bad boy haven't you!!??
This book certainly didn't disappoint, it really had me questioning my moral compass at some points, filled with scenes of violence, drug use and all types of abuse, it isn't one for the faint hearted, a real page turner that has you right on the edge!!
Despite being so dark, it wasn't all doom and gloom, I found myself crying, laughing, frowning and smiling and there is indeed a HEA. I'm looking forward to reading what T M Frazier comes up with next.
