Chocolate Fondants Recipe

Last week I shared with you my review of April's Degustabox. Included inside this lovely box of surprises was two bars of Dr Oetker's Fine Cooks chocolate and a rather deilicious recipe for chocolate fondants.

Now her in the Hazelden house, we love chocolate and we also love baking so we just had to give this recipe a try.

Ingredients

* Oil or butter for greasing the pudding tins
* 125g Dr Oetker Fine Cooks 72% extra dark chocolate
* 125g Unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
* 2 Medium eggs
* 2 Egg yolks
* 50g Caster sugar
* 1tsp Dr Oetker Madagascan vanilla extract
* 1 tbsp Ground arrowroot

Preparation

* Preheat your oven to around 230 degrees
* Grease the  4 x pudding tins.
* Break up the chocolate into small pieces, place in a bowl with the butter and melt over simmering water then set aside.
* Whisk the eggs, egg yolks and sugar together until it reaches a thick and cream consistency.
* Add in the melted chocolate and vanilla extract and mix together.
* Stir in the arrowroot, this should create a smooth batter.
* Divide the mixture between the pudding tins and place in the oven for around 10 minutes.

* Once removed from the oven, invert the puddings on to serving plares but leave them in the pudding tins for a further 2 minutes.

Now I have never made fondants before but I found this recipe extremely easy to follow, so simple to make and it creates a very morish dessert.

We served ours with vanilla ice cream but you can of course serve with custard or perhaps creme fraiche.
