Sun, Sickness and Trying to Smile May #LittleLoves

Last month the lovely Morgana at Coffee Work Sleep Repeat made the decision to change her #LittleLoves linky from a weekly ordeal to monthly, so I changed to writing my posts once a month too to fit in with the linky. If you haven't joined in yet then you definitely should!!

Anyway ...

May, what can I say about it. If I'm honest this month has been a long one. I can't pin point a particular reason as to why I feel like this however I can say that I'm really looking forward to the half term and the month of June. This few weeks have just dragged and my mood has been quite frankly, awful and even though I've walked around with a smile on my face, I've felt less than happy a lot of the time.

Work has been testing at times, I've had kids with sickness bugs and I have felt less than 100% for a lot of the time too, not even the added sunshine we've been blessed with has managed to keep me fully positive but I do still have some loves for the month.

Read

I haven't read as much as I'd like to. Partly down to being too tired to concentrate properly on a book and of course the normal factor of having little time to just sit down and escape into fictional worlds. But I have read a few books, one of my favourites being Sarah J Maas's latest instalment in the Court of Thorns and Roses series, A Court of Frost and Starlight. This was more of a novella and after waiting for it to be released I read it in less than 3 hours, it was that good!

Other books I've read this month have been gifted to me via Netgalley and those included: Eve of Man by Tom Fletcher and Giovanna Fletcher (a must read!), Snap by Belinda Bauer and Thirteen by Steve Cavanagh. I seem to have developed more of a liking for the crime/thriller genre.

Watched

Love Island!

Come on if you haven't been glued to Netflix re-watching then what else have you been doing? I watched the first series when it was on TV but I missed the second one so I have been binge watching my way through the episodes, it is trashy television at it's best in my opinion. One of those programmes where you can just switch off and not have a real need to concentrate to follow what's happening.

Another reality programme my husband and I have been watching is one of the originals, Jersey Shore. If you've never watched it then I implore you too, so so funny and the reunion that's on now is just as good, I guarantee you'll be laughing, I hope they put this show on Netflix!

Heard

I'm one of these people that once I hear a song I tend to latch onto it and play it on repeat for a while. My latest obsessions for the ears include two songs from the Black Panther soundtrack, All the Stars and Pray for Me (anyone else in love with The Weeknd?). And another tune that I can't help but love is Arianna Grande's new song.

Wore

Well I haven't bought anything new to wear this month, bbbbboooooo I hear you cry, it's not from a lack of want but from a distinct lack of pennies due to the fact that we finally paid off our holiday for this year.

One thing I have been wearing a lot is my trusty denim jacket, I can't tell you how good it feels to ditch the coat! That and being able to wear sandals, sliders and flip flops, feet freedom or what. I'm not keen on wearing socks and boots so it's a good feeling having air flowing down there, must remember to paint my toe nails more often though.

Made

This month has seen me start preparing for my youngest's birthday. Her birthday isn't until the end of July but I like to start buying presents earlier as it gives me the chance to spread the cost a little. She's still relatively easy to buy for. Into anything that is unicorn related and being a really girlie girl she is more than happy when presented with new dresses and hair accessories.

I've also been getting outfits ready for the start of July as my best friend is getting her youngest daughter christened and she has asked my husband and I to be god parents again. We're already god parents to her other two kids so I'm really honoured to take up the role once more.

And lastly . . .

I'm off round a friend's house for a girls night in tomorrow, dinner and plenty of drinks. We've sort of made it regular thing in recent months. It is so nice to just get out of the house and be able to talk about anything, even the husband lol.

And the of course half term begins and for the first time ever the husband is off with us. Up until now he has always been self employed and never able to afford the time off but he's finally employed so now we get to enjoy some real family time together, fingers crossed for a beach day!

I hope everyone else had an enjoyable May, let me know in what you've been loving recently.

  4. I've just started Season 1 of Love Island on Netflix, I was really sucked into last years one - much to my surprise! It's not usually the kind of series I watch really. So funny though!

  7. I can honestly say I have never watched Love Island before, and don't actually ever plan on doing so. I'm not a fan of reality tv much (with the exception of The Island with Bear Grylls) #LittleLoves
