LeapFrog have always been well known for their toys abilities to encourage learning through play and a recent parliamentary report which coincides with the release of their latest tablet the LeapPad Epic celebrates just what a positive impact playing with these sorts of toys can have on any child's development.

This new report from a Parliamentary Group calls for play to be an important part of an approach to childrens health and wellbeing. Of course physical acitivity is a big part of kids lives, it goes a ling to battle things like obesity but play is also needed.

The question is what is considered play in this day and age? This recent report from the All Party Parliamentary Group highlights the positive impact that modern technology can have in child's play both at home and at school. I've seen this firsthand with my children. They use iPads at school and this excites them and has them eager to learn from the apps they use on them.

LeapFrog LeapPad Platinum Review

We are huge fans of LeapPads in our house, each year they seem to get better and better and I'm always left thinking that LeapFrog surely can't top what they've made but they manage to prove me wrong and they've only gone and done it again with the LeapPad Platinum.

LeapFrog Number Loving Oven Review

As LeapFrog ambassadors we are very lucky because we get sent a lot of their latest products to test out. One of the latest releases is the Number Loving Oven. This funky little number is aimed at children aged between 2 and 5 years old and is designed to teach things like counting and vocabulary.

LeapFrog Interactive World Map Review

I blog about LeapFrog books and products quite often and each time I find myself more impressed with what they have to offer. One of my most recent reviews was for their LeapReader, with so many books compatible with it, it's become a great reading companion to my children. Well last week we were lucky enough to receive LeapFrog's Interactive World Map.

Book Of The Month - Disney Princess Adventures Under Sea

Every month LeapFrog pick a new book to be their "Book of the month", last month it was the turn of Jake and The Neverland Pirates, well this month sees the girls taking over as Disney Princess Adventures Under Sea is their top pick.

The princesses have got a book all of her own which is compatible with both the LeapReader and LeapFrog Tag but can also be read by itself. 

LeapPad Platinum and LeapFrog Imagicard

LeapFrog have only gone and done it again, they've gone and made an even better LeapPad. Now whilst I can't bring you a proper review yet I thought I'd tell you a little bit about the brand new LeapPad Platinum and the compatible LeapFrog Imagicard.

The Imagicard cleverly brings characters and learning to life with a simple snap of a picture. The Imagicard games can be played on Leapfrog's most advance LeapPad, the Platinum but they are also backwards compatible with all other LeapPads excluding LeapPad 1.

Cinderella, The Heart That Believes Book Review

I absolutely love being a LeapFrog amabassador and the girls have really benefited from this too. A couple of weeks ago my youngest daughter was extremely excited because we received Cindrella, The Heart That Believes in the post. Cinderella is currently her favourite Disney Princess so she promptly walked off with the book. 

Jake and the Never Land Pirates Book Review

LeapFrog likes to choose a different book each month to be it's "Book of the month" and this month Jake and the Never Land Pirates is the top pick.

This book is part of the Get Ready to Read Series which can be used in conjunction with the LeapReader Junior. Aimed at children primarily aged 1-3, it aids in number recognition and counting objects.

As with all products from LeapFrog it is fun and engaging whilst remaining educational. This is one of the reasons I loved the LeapReader Junior in the first place because kids take so much in when they are younger so I find it brilliant that they can be gaining useful skills whilst playing.

This story is 15 pages long and it follows Jake and his friends as they try and stop the naughty Captain Hook from stealing the bongo drums. As they go about their adventures they find themselves coming across tricky obstacles which your child can help them count.

LeapFrog LeapReader Review

Having recently reviewed the LeapReader Junior, a toy aimed to encourage reading amongst 1-3 year olds, I was extremely pleased when LeapFrog gave me the chance to review the original LeapReader which is aimed at 4-8 year olds.

LeapFrog say that this is a complete learn to read and write solution, cleverly sounding out words, allowing children to practice their letter strokes within the books and building up comprehension along the way.

LeapFrog Loves Disney Princesses and We Do Too

LeapFrog chose their Cindrella LeapReader book as their book of the month for April, this got my girls nodding in agreement, they love all things to do with Disney Princess.

So to keep the Disney Princess love going, we were kindly sent the Disney's Tangled LeapReader book and Sofia the First LeapTV game to have fun with, both favourite princesses in our house so there was much excitement when these arrived in the post.

We were also sent a LeapReader which I will be reviewing soon so look out for that but for now lets concentrate on the book.

Aimed at children aged 4-8 this isn't just your typical Rapunzel story.

The LeapReader allows you to not only listen to the story narrated through the LeapReader itself but there also pages where you can choose your own words for the story, muddle it up a little if you will.

LeapFrog's LeapReader Junior Review

I've always maintained that reading books is important no matter what age you are. My children have had books read to them from the moment they were born. The skill of reading itself is one learnt over time and it certainly isn't a bad thing encouraging this early on. The LeapReader Junior from LeapFrog is a reading aid which definitely helps with this.

A Family Book Club Party

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned the reading guide which LeapFrog had put together, this was filled with tips on how to get kids reading at home. One of the suggestions was holding a book club party, something you can do as a family or your children can do with friends. It gives them the opportunity to read the same book as others and discuss what they thought about the story, the characters etc.

LeapFrog were kind enough to provide my kids and I with the bits needed to hold a book club party of our own, the book we were going to be looking at was Sofia the First, which is compatible with LeapFrog's very own LeapReader.

I'll be reviewing the LeapReader very soon but for now let me show you just how well our party went.

We were given lots of goodies including dressing up outfits, decorations, colouring kits and plenty of items to pop into party bags.

30 Ways In 30 Days Guide

World book day is upon us. We all know how important books are, reading is such a big part of my children's lives however it might surprise you to know from research conducted on 1000 parents by LeapFrog that almost half of the parents in the UK lack both confidence and the knowledge to help their children continue the reading and literacy that they learn at school at home.

Sofia the First Interactive Storybook Review

One of the items that I was lucky enough to be able to review last year was the LeapPad 3. This has fast become one of my girls favourite toys, my youngest calls it her iPad. The experience of using it has been made better by the games/apps that we've been able to download. One of the latest apps to appear on our LeapPad is the brand new Sofia the First Interactive Storybook.

This is what is typically known as an ebook but you will soon learn that this storybook is so much more.

Available as a download or in cartridge form, it is suitable for all LeapPads so no Sofia fans have to miss out.

LeapFrog LeapTV Review

It is no secret, we love LeapFrog products in this house. They are perfect for the ages that my children are now so when I first heard about LeapTV I was eager to have the chance to test it out, I mean the kids were.

My children love to play on Just Dance on our Xbox however we struggle with the kinect picking them up on the camera properly sometimes. LeapTV is designed specifically for children aged between 3 and 8 years old. In simple turns it is educational yet active video gaming.

I told you all a while ago about the latest product to be launching from LeapFrog, the amazing LeapTV.

It isn't surprising that over 1.2 billion people worldwide spend their time playing video games but unfortuantely these games aren't always suitable for our little ones.
