Not Weighing In

So I'm trying something different this week. I'm not weighing in. I've decided not to step on the scales and I have to say it is strangely liberating. Continuing on from what I said in my post last week, I'm trying not to obssess so much when it comes to the numbers, the lbs and inches because as I keep trying to remember, it is how we feel that really counts.

I know I had a not so great week when it came to what I consumed. A tad to much alcohol was drunk and not all the right foods were eaten but my clothes still fit so I can't have piled on too much weight no can I?

Plus I bought a couple of items of clothes, size 8, now this is the first time a size 8 hasn't been a teensy bit tight, they actually fit properly. I've not managed to fit into a size 8 since I was around 15 years old so I'll admit I was quite pleased with myself.

One thing I haven't stopped is the exercise and having got a fitbit a couple of weeks ago I have become more aware of when I'm being a little lazy shall we say. It's made me strive to walk around more because I do like hitting the targets set and it makes me feel good knowing I've made an effort that day.

The fitbit has also shown just how up in the air my sleeping pattern is, I need to work on being a little more relaxed at bedtime as I've read time and time again that the amount you sleep can also affect your weight.

It felt good having a week off, not stressing about calories and how fatty certain foods can be. However  I am also happy to get back on that healthy eating wagon as my tummy quite frankly isn't thanking me for allowing it so many treats such as doughnuts and chinese takeaway.

Now is a good time to get back on my quest to finding that elusive balance.

  1. Good luck this week. You are totally right re the scales, sometimes I think I feel slimmer and better then get demotivated when i step on the scales ut it can be inches lost rather than lbs. Perhaps Ill try that next week :) #bloggintojogging

  2. I think it is better to not weigh in, instead seeing how clothes fit, how many inches you lose or just if you feel generally fitter it is better.

  3. Finding the elusive balance is hard, but am glad you allowed yourself some time off! FitBit's are great but very addictive as they do push you on that little bit further! The milkshake in your pictures looks amazing! Hope you are having a lovely week! Sim #WeightLossWednesday xx

  4. I think freeing yourself from counting weight and calories can be so beneficial. Getting to know your body more so you can understand how to help it work properly is always going to achieve more in the long run.

I've always noticed that weight loss is easy when I'm sleeping well and I think it's mainly because doing the right things is easier when you're well rested. I've found that being tired affects my taste so I eat all the wrong things.

So keep up the good work.

In terms of weight loss your body needs to burn sugar in order to burn fat. Most people are bad at burning sugar which makes them bad at burning fat and they put the weight on. The general movement you're doing helps the body burn sugar which makes it better at burning fat and over the course of days and weeks this all adds up.

You still have to eat less but most people don't realise they have to improve their bodies ability to burn fat first.

  5. Sometimes a break is what we all need. It must have worked if you fitted in to a size 8, wow! Well done. #weightlosswednesday

  6. I have been thinking of getting one of those fitbits. I like the idea of using something to monitor my laziness. :) #weightlosswednesday

  7. It sounds like you know what your doing. I understand how annoying counting can be etc. I totally agree though that recording things raises awareness and helps you to succeed in whatever your doing..be it cutting down, counting or exercise. Keep up the good work. Angela x
