Changing Things Up

I'm becoming like a broken record but I've found myself slipping further and further into a rut with my eating habits and even though I keep talking about how much I've begun to love exercising this year, my motivation to get up and do it in the mornings is also beginning to waver.  I have been avoiding the scales for a few weeks as I've got a strong feeling that the numbers won't be what I want to see.

Exercising definitely releases those endorphins that get me feeling good however sometimes the routines can get a bit boring, the same with the foods I'm eating and I feel the need to change it up a little.

I've recently taken to buying Women's Health. There's a great mix of articles inside including some yummy recipes, health tips and exercise routines, definitely worth a read ladies.

Recipe wise I've got some inspiration for different salads and some Summer based foods including healthy ice lollies and desserts which are needed!!

This month also had a couple of exercise routines that stuck out for me and I decided to bite the bullet and buy myself some new home gym equipment so that I could give them a go.

I now have an exercise ball, or a giant bouncy ball as my kids seem to think it is, a set of resistance bands and a skipping rope.

So far I'm having fun. I'm doing a mix of HIIT training with resistance and circuits thrown in. Some mornings I've taken to exercising out in the garden, really nice to get outdoors at 6am especially since it has been so hot recently, the early morning air is cooling!!

Now I have to admit I'm finding the skipping difficult, lets just say I've had 4 kids and my bladder isn't what it used to be, come on you all know what I'm talking about, but all in all switching things up has definitely got me motivated again.

I've also promised my 7 year old that she can start coming out for a run with me in the Summer holidays, will be interesting to see who can keep up with who!!!

How do you keep yourself motivated when it comes to losing/maintaining weight?

  1. It can be so tough to stay motivated. I tend to go through phases. A good run in a morning keeps me motivated and happy! :)

  2. I wish I was as motivated as you! x

  3. I've really struggled these last few months with working out so I decided to blog about it (hoping this will help) I also buy Women's health have done for a while now and I love reading through it while I soak in the bath. I find the articles are really good and makes me want to work out.
I hope the change up helps you feel motivated again. Good luck

  4. How lovely to run with your 7 year old, I hope you both enjoy it! Definitely good to mix it up, I might have to start buying the magazine too. Thanks for linking with #BloggingToJogging xx
