Making a Difference to My Workouts With #PredNutrition

It is no secret that exercising can make a huge difference to your healthy and wellbeing. Over the past few months I have been trying out different workouts to not only help me lose weight but to just keep me fit in general but as I've learnt over the past few months what you do pre and post workout can affect how your body changes and recovers.

I was recently sent a hamper of goodies from Predator Nutrition to help me in my continued journey to tone up my body. This included two products. A preworkout drink and snack bars.

Optimum Nutrtion Pre-Workout

This product is primarily designed to get you working out for longer/harder. Available in 3 different flavours, I was sent the fruit punch. Simply mix in with cold water and drink about half hour before you workout. This drink contains things such as caffeine and creatine and I have to say I noticed a difference straight away. If you aren't big on caffeine I would say half the serving size as it made me feel a bit light headed on the first couple of uses and I'm a big coffee drinker.

The drink itself tastes ok, a bit tangy but not unpleasant. Easy to mix up, it is just like a squash in its consistency.

After about 5 minutes I started to feel a buzz, more energised and awake and it definitely made a difference to my actual workout. I was able to run for a longer period of time without lagging and honestly I could have probably carried on for even longer if my legs hadn't begun to ache.

Quest Bars

I'm going to say straight away that these are my new go to snack!! A snack bar from Quest Nutrition that comes in a variety of flavours such as cookie dough, strawberry cheesecake and lemon meringue.

The main appeal is their high protein content, with 20g of protein per bar, they are a great post workout snack to help those muscles recover and being low in carbs they are great for anyone on a diet too.

I've taken to eating one every afternoon as a snack to stop me reaching for the junk inbetween meals.

I think the only negative is that some flavours can be a little dry, a bit too chewy but with such a variety to choose from you'll definitely find the taste for you. My personal favourites are the cookie dough and the mint chocolate chunk.

quest bars

I'll be needing the Quest Bars on repeat order because honestly I think I'm addicted to them now.

With these two products combined aswell as my normal PHD protein shakes, my recovery time has definitely improved, my muscles ache for half the time, allowing me to fit in extra workouts if I want without doing damage to my body.

  1. Gosh, you sound pretty hard core when it comes to your fitness! I haven't drunk caffeine for some time so that shake will probably have me shooting for the stars!
I do find it interesting what you say about giving you the extra buzz to do more workout, I suppose you still have to manage yourself and know your limits otherwise you could be over exerting without realising, and potentially damaging muscles.
Really interesting read & I've learnt something new

  2. My husband has started using recovery protein drinks after his workouts and he's a complete convert after being quite skeptical about them. These look good :)
