Siblings (February)

The siblings project is a linky run by Dear Beautiful, each month you get to link up a photo of your children and of course see and read about other siblings at the same time. I kept seeing posts for this project pop up in my social media timelines last year but time always got away from me.

As you can see I already missed January (oops). However I'm determined to get some more photos of my brood this year and what better way to encourage that than by joining in with this. So this month I'm getting in early, presenting February's photo. I think it captures my girls personalities wonderfully.

All ready for bed and of course not all of them are looking at the camera, you may have also noticed that they aren't all smiling but where's the fun in that. They've managed to turn a somewhat posed photo into something more natural.

What I love about this photograph is that it captures their individual personalities brilliantly but you can still see that they are all indeed sisters. Another thing that is apparent in this photograph is just how they've paired off. Elise and Gracie alongside Layla and Freya. It is strange how things work out.

My eldest, Elise isn't the most comfortable in front of the camera when asked to sit for a photo, she much prefers to take a selfie, oh how times change. Gracie next to her however is a big poser, quite happy to be centre stage and her beaming grin reflects this. My little threenager Layla always manages to look at the camera after the photo has been taken. Then there's Freya, a natural, whether caught off guard or asked to simply smile she just has this confidence about her.

I think this photo has made it really hit home just how much they've all grown up in the past year. When you see your children on a daily basis you don't take the time to see the changes. Sitting looking at them here it is clear that they are no longer babies, they are growing up close, friends as well as sisters. I'm one proud mummy!
