Enjoying All That Santa Ponsa in Majorca Has To Offer

santa-ponsa-majorca

The last time we got to go away on holiday as a family was way back in 2013 when we went to our favourite destination that is Ibiza. That honestly feels like a life time ago and of course back then we had a lot of extra luggage that we needed to take which included things like nappies and a pushchair. Fast forward to August 2016 and we were on our way to Santa Ponsa in Majorca, having never been there before we were a bit apprehensive as to what this place would have to offer but we needn't of worried.

Santa Ponsa is a small town in the South West of Majorca. It is a very popular area with tourists and I can see why, with a wonderful beach and plenty of shops and bars, even the obligatory mini golf but still within reach of places like Palma on public transport of via taxi.

The hotel we stayed at was the Hotel Globales Santa Ponsa Park, booked through First Choice. A two minute walk from the beach and the local shops and bars, we found ourselves in what we considered the ideal location, everything within walking distance is a nice bonus when you have four children. I took so many photos and the kids took a few too thanks to the camera provided by icarhireinsurance.com

Normally we go self catering as the initial booking price is cheaper but this vacation we decided to pay the extra and go all inclusive, I think my husband would agree with me when I say that I'd never go back to self catering now. The food was all buffet style but there was a great selection with different fish and meats available each day and of course all the ice cream you could eat.

We spent the majority of our time round the pools and with three to choose from as well as a jacuzzi they never became too busy. This is also where the all inclusive factor really made a difference, the children could go up to the pool bar and ask for their own ice creams and drinks allowing my husband and I to keep an eye on the ones staying in the pool. Activities were put on around and in the pools including exercise classes, enough to entertain but nothing that distracted from the relaxed atmosphere. The books sent from Puffin books allowed the kids (and myself) to travel '#bybook' and have a break from the sun and water at times too.

There were a few little niggles, an issue with air conditioning and not being provided with a late check out despite plenty of advertising saying we could do but overall I have nothing but good things to say about our accommodations. A big shout out to the waiters and entertainers. So polite and just wonderful with the children, going out of their way to say hello even when they were off duty.

The kids disco was the highlight for my youngest two and I'll admit to enjoying it as well, we learnt a new song and dance which I managed to find on You Tube to show you.

Despite us living by the coast we could not get enough of Santa Ponsa's beautiful beach. With the sun staying out well into the evening we were able to stay out building sandcastles at a time when many at home would be thinking about going to bed. We may have come across a mermaid or too as well. A surprise was seeing ducks in the sea, especially in such heat.

Spending the evenings at the beach also allowed us to witness some truly stunning sunsets. I was left wishing that all days could end with views such as those. Everywhere you walked you got a different version of sky.

And just to prove that holidays can indeed be educational we happened to be in Santa Ponsa while they were celebrating their annual festival, Les Festes del Rei en Jaume, marking the time that King Jaume I successfully landed and conquered the moors in Majorca. We spent time asking the locals about the history of it all whilst watching parades with giants prancing around. We were however disappointed that we were going to miss the giant foam party held on the streets of Santa Ponsa!

Majorca is definitely a country that we would return to and I'd be more than happy to stay at the same hotel again too. I now have the after holiday blues and dreaming of the next destination that we can travel to.
