The Secrets You Keep Blog Tour

Today I'm joining in with The Secrets You Keep blog tour. Katie White's latest novel was released last week and it's set to be a popular read amongst those that love mystery/thriller genres ...

You've lost your memory. A woman has been murdered. Your husband is keeping secrets. How do you know who to trust?

I'll admit this book took me by surprise. I was expecting suspense but I wasn't prepared for all the twists and turns that I encountered.

What would you do if you realized that your new husband, a man you adore, is keeping secrets from you—secrets with terrifying consequences?

Bryn Harper, an accomplished self-help author, already has plenty to deal with. She’s still recovering from a devastating car accident that has left her haunted by recurring, smoke-filled nightmares. Worse still, she can’t shake the ominous feeling her dreams contain a warning.

In the beginning, Bryn’s husband Guy couldn’t have been more supportive. But after moving into a new house together, disturbing incidents occur and Guy grows evasive, secretive. What the hell is going on, she wonders? Then, a woman hired to cater their dinner party is brutally murdered.

As Bryn’s world unravels—and yet another woman in town is slain —she must summon her old strength to find answers and protect her own life. Her nightmares may in fact hold the key to unlocking the truth and unmasking the murderer.

We learn early on that the protagonist Bryn is recovering from a car accident that occurred a few months back, she survived but a work colleague didn't, the trouble is that Bryn has no idea what caused the accident and it seems suspicious that she was with this certain colleague at the time, why was he there and how did he end up giving her a ride home?

As far as we can tell as the reader the car accident was just that, an accident but you get the sense that Bryn still feels guilty somehow as she keeps having these reoccurring dreams that lead her to believe that someone is trying to tell her something, perhaps helping her remember what her mind has decided to forget.

Whilst recovering Bryn has moved to another town to be with her husband Guy but her progress of healing is slow, Guy's patience is running out and after a dinner date with potential donors to her husband's opera company ends with money being stolen, things slowly start to slowly spiral out of control for Bryn.

On top of all of that, the caterer who was just at their home has been discovered murdered, the question is are these events connected or purely coincidence? As Bryn and her husband's lives are put under the microscope, secrets once hidden are uncovered and everything Bryn once knew is proved a lie.

The Secrets We Keep is a compelling read, with so many twists and turns you can't help but keep turning the pages. I was utterly engrossed and was left kicking myself when the murderer was revealed, I'm betting you won't guess who it is either!

For fans of psychological suspense and compulsive mysteries don't miss this tense and page-turning novel.

  4. Sounds interesting, although kind of similar to a couple of books I've read recently. Books where people have married the 'perfect' man after a short romance always end in things going badly wrong!
