Heart in the Right Home by Lisa Hill Blog Tour

Lisa Hill is an author who loves to write contemporary romance books with a light-hearted tone and she aims to entertain with her heartfelt stories. Her latest novel, Heart in the Right Home is the second in the series to feature character Lottie Hardwicke but lucky for you guys, it can also be read as a standalone.

Wedding bells are chiming in the village of Clunderton, but will it be happy-ever-afters all around? Rebecca Cavendish thinks not. All she’s feeling is shame and remorse since her affair with property mogul, Edward Hardwicke, whilst in another corner of the village, Louise Edwards is slowly coming to the conclusion she might not be in love with husband, Johnnie, anymore.

Meanwhile, Lottie Hardwicke is resisting the urge to do what she does best…interfere. When Edward’s son, James, turns up announcing Hardwickes’ intentions to develop land on the outskirts of the village into residential homes, and Edward makes a further shocking announcement, a divide begins to set hold amongst the villagers, perhaps more monumental than the country being torn apart by Brexit…

Will Lottie refrain? Or will she cave-in to that need to interfere, and ensure everyone ends up with their heart in the right home?

This is what I'd describe as the perfect Summer read.

Starting off where the first novel ended, I found myself sliding back into village life but you could easily pick up this book without ever having to read the first one. It is the exact definition of an easy read.

What you'll find with this series is that there isn't one clear focus.

Welcome to Clunderton and the world of properties and estate agents.

With a brilliant cast of characters, who all have their own roles to play, this is like an episode of Eastenders mixed in with Location, Location, Location.

Each person has a sort of mini storyline which adds depth to the the story as a whole but Hill's over all focus seems to be showing that everybody has their own problems to deal with whilst trying to keep up appearances to everyone else around them.

It's all very realistic.

We have Lottie, who can't help but get involved with everyone else's drama (all with good intentions.) Then there's the in-laws, one who is claiming to be suffering a serious illness, the other trying to move on from a messy break up with Lottie's father no less. Lets not forget James - the brother in law - who now wants to embark on a relationship with Rebecca, that woman who recently had an affair with his father.

Reading that you'd be forgiven in thinking that this could be a very complicated read but I promise you it's not.

Heart in the Right Home is filled with quick-witted chat; emotional dramatics and plenty of complicated relationships. Lots of entangled threads that are gradually prised apart with each turn of the page.

Utterly charming from start to finish.

Lisa Hill has got a definite talent for writing and her 'naturally curious' nature shines through in her books. With so many developing characters, I'm hoping to see a lot more books in this series. It was a real joy to read this tale, I think I was smiling the whole time.

Do check out the rest of the blog tour for more reviews and information and I highly recommend that you also take the time to read Heart in the Right Place.

  3. I love your description of the book as EastEnders meets Location Location Location! It doesn't sound like my cup of tea but I can see how it would also to a lot of readers. #readwithme

  4. This doesn't sound quite my cup of tea. It reminded me of the 44 Scotland Street series by Alexander McCall Smith, which has a cast of interesting characters, each with their own stories. I used to enjoy those back in my pre-thriller days, but not sure if I would any more!
