We Met in December by Rosie Curtis Blog Tour

Yes I did just say the word December in a blog title when it is still only December but it's for a good reason I promise. Author Rosie Curtis is releasing her latest novel, We Met in December and I've been lucky enough to read this rather entertaining book ahead of its release.

Two people. One house. A year that changes everything.  

Twenty-nine-year-old Jess is following her dream and moving to London. It’s December, and she’s taking a room in a crumbling, but grand, Notting Hill house-share with four virtual strangers. On her first night, Jess meets Alex, the guy sharing her floor, at a Christmas dinner hosted by her landlord. They don’t kiss, but as far as Jess is concerned the connection is clear. She starts planning how they will knock down the wall between them to spend more time together.

But when Jess returns from a two-week Christmas holiday, she finds Alex has started dating someone else—beautiful Emma, who lives on the floor above them. Now Jess faces a year of bumping into (hell, sharing a bathroom with) the man of her dreams…and the woman of his.

I'll admit it.

I'm a sucker for a good romance novel especially ones that are guaranteed to leave me feeling lighter hearted after reading it.

Throw in a touch of Christmas magic (all be it a slight amount) and you've got me hook line and sinker.

Following a year in the life of a twenty-something British woman who falls hard for her London flat mate, this clever, fun, and unforgettable romantic comedy is the perfect feel-good holiday read.

This story follows the loveable Jess, who after moving to London to pursue her dream job, has also found her dream man but there's just one teeny tiny problem...

He's her house mate and house rules state no relationships with other house sharers.

Beginning in December (you already guessed that right?), the tale is spread over one whole year. Told from two points of view, Jess and the oh so dreamy Alex.

As the months go by both Jess and Alex are trying to navigate their way through personal matters. Family, friendships and jobs keeping them busy. There are times when they are like ships in the night although to them this might not be a bad thing as they try to avoid the obvious, the fact that they are indeed made for each other.

I don't want to sound gushy but this is one of those perfect love stories. Girl and boy meet, circumstances keep them apart until the timing is just right.

It has all the feels.

Giving the reader that heartwarming glow.

We Met in December is a book filled with forbidden love, a hilarious cast of characters (who each have the potential to have novels written solely for them, especially Jess's grandma) and at the centre of it all is realism.

And that is what really sold the story to me.

The fact that it was highly believable.

It is women's fiction at its very best.

The story is wistful, witty and wonderfully paced. A slow, steady pace that keeps the reader turning the pages but at the same time wanting the tale to last.

I'll admit the plot was predictable but sometimes that's necessary in a story, an easy read with the ending that you really desire.

It's a story that I would quite happily read again!
