Peek Through Little Tiger Books Round Up

It's that time of the month where I share some fantastic books from Little Tiger with you. This month is all about the peek through book. You know the ones where there's a distinct hole cut out of the front and you're left wondering just what could be hiding within. These are always great when you want to introduce a bit more interaction with books instead of simply reading them.

I have four, fantastically fabulous stories to show you, each one offering something different but equally wonderful.

On Sleepy Hill

As the sun goes down on Sleepy Hill the animals are nestling in for the night.

This beautifully illustrated picture book with intricate peek-through pages and rhyming text is perfect for bedtime reading.

What draws me to this book is the illustrations, they look like they've been sketched on the pages.

And as you peek through the pages you appear to move deeper into the forest, watching as each animal gets ready to settle down for the night.

This for my is an ideal bedtime story. Utterly adorable and perfectly calming. I think you'd find it a struggle to stay awake whilst reading it to your little ones.

Kindness Grows

It all starts with a crack that we can hardly see, it happens when we shout or if we disagree.

Angry words cause a crack to open up and widen, but find out what happens when kindness begins to blossom in this thought-provoking book.

The front cover of this books is automatically appealing with adorable children each gravitating towards a rather spectacular tree, but what could that tree represent?

Beginning on the first page is a tiny crack, one caused by some sort of unkindness, anger perhaps. As the book progresses this crack appears to enlarge on one page, the page connected to it shows something else beginning to flourish as kindness is shared.

This would make for a useful tool in schools to show children just how they can turn something negative into something positive. Giving them a chance to learn from their behaviours.

Goodnight Ocean

Say goodnight to a magical underwater land at bedtime.

Learn about sleeping sea creatures as you swim over carpets of coral to the deepest depths of the ocean.

This a board book that combines facts and fun.

Using rhyming text and bright illustrations as you delve deeper into its crystal blue waters. There is plenty to be uncovered, so much so that I think each time you read this book, which I think will be many times over, your child will find more creatures that they failed to see the previous times.

I guess the question is, how many creatures are waiting to be found?

Animal Homes

Welcome to the wonderful world of Animal Homes, incredible habitats where creatures rest high above our heads, and where burrowing beasts dig deep into the earth below our feet.

Discover why beavers construct dams and lodges, how beehives are built and what lives in colossal mounds that tower as tall as trees.

This book is multi-functional. Each turn of the page offers:

* a flap to lift
* a hole to look through
* interesting facts about various animals and their abodes

The holes are all different shapes which gives little ones to practice naming their shapes whilst finding out what each animal's home is like.

You could even use this book for slightly older children for writing tasks, getting them to think about adjectives which could best describe all the differing habitats.

Peek through books for a wide range of children, whether you like animals, rhyming words or simply having fun turning the pages of a book. These books are all worthy entertainment and guaranteed to instil a love of reading for your children.

  1. These sound lovely, I especially like the sound of 'Kindness Grows', I think we can be idealistic and think that children don't need teaching to be kind but it's so important to reinforce that kindness is the best way. #readwithme
