Colours by Alain Gree Book Review

Colours, they are all around us and are a very important part of our day to day lives. We start seeing them when we are born and we start to learn about them from a very young age but sometimes it can be a struggle, which is what I am finding with my youngest daughter. I'm finding it difficult to know how to make her recognise and understand them all.

A book that has come in handy is Colours by Alain Gree. Priced at £9.99, this book isn't just for younger children and infact it can even be useful for adults too.

Colours is wonderfully unique as soon as you open it up. The cover which surrounds the  bright pink hardback can be removed to reveal a beautiful drawing ready for your child/ren to colour in, so it becomes interactive straight away.

Colours is filled with gorgeous images which have a very classic look about them, and they are used throughout the book to help learn so many wonderful things. Bright colours encourage recognition and different objects back up this learning process with association. For example we associate the sun with the colour yellow.

But it isn't just about learning the colours themselves. Alain Gree shows how to mix colours i.e. blue and red together make purple. And we are shown how colours are used in day to day life, such as road signs and traffic lights. These facts have got my children pointing out more things as we spot them out and about.

There is even a quiz at the end of the book to test you on how much information you've managed to absorb whilst reading. I extended this quiz with more of my own made up questions which was a fun activity to do with the kids.

I really love this book for so many reasons.

* It's perfect for the whole family and becomes useful in different ways as your child grows older.

* It isn't just a story to be read. This book allows you to learn, discover and to ask questions.

* Even when you think you've learnt all that there is to know about colours, this a book that you can refer/look back to if you happen to forget.

I highly recommend this book to everybody!!
