A Colouring Classic Book Review

I am a huge fan of colouring, I've reviewed some other colouring books on my blog before and I'm forever adding new ones to my collection. Recently I was sent a couple of new books to try and of course enjoy, A Colouring Classic books manage to give two of the greatest love stories a new lease of life through the art of colouring.

The covers themselves are utterly gorgeous and of course you can colour those in too if you wish. With metallic written titles and hints of the same colouring in the initial illustrations, the shine that they give off instantly draws you eye to them.

Inside both books you will find fantastically picked quotations from these classic tales that go hand in hand with the illustrations. These quotes are written in a lovely scroll like handwriting, adding to the feel of the era that these novels came from. And of course if you are a lover of these novels it will have you recalling certain parts of the stories as you colour.

Now the illustrations themselves are just lovely to look at, even before you begin to add splashes of colour to them. Plenty of details shown in the line work really making the stories more of a reality. I adore all of the patterns that have been weaved throughout some of the drawings. It has given a modern twist on what some of us may have pictured parts of these tales to appear like.

You can tell that the quality of these books is high, with quite thick paper which ensures that most materials won't show through the pages, they won't bend or ruin easily although I will admit to keeping them away from little hands. One test they didn't pass is the Sharpie test, I want to be thorough with my review so I tried out my Sharpies on one of the pictures and unfortunately like other colouring books these bled through the pages.

Whether you are a fan of these classic novels or whether you are simply just a lover of colouring books, either way these books are most definitely worth investing in. Depending on the materials and the colours that you choose to use, you can actually give a modern day make over to something that is perhaps considered old. Priced at £9.99 each it would definitely be money well spent, I've wasted no time making the most of them, relaxation at its best in my opinion..

  4. I've never tried colouring, but I know a lot of people enjoy it. I suspect I wouldn't have the patience! I'll remember not to use Sharpies if I ever do it a go!

  5. I haven't tried adult colouring books even though I'm sure I would enjoy them since I loved colouring as a child, but because I struggle to find time to do everything I want to do as it is. And excuse my ignorance, but I haven't come across Sharpies. Looking at your picture are they a brand of felt-tip?

    2. Ah that's probably why I haven't seen them. I try to buy the washable pens, as the boys seem to frequently end up with ink on their school shirts
