Darker Mornings and Changing Seasons #weeklyroundup

Hey there lovely people. Welcome to another weekly round up. This was our first full week back at school/work since the end of the summer holidays and I don't know about the kids but I'll admit to struggling. It's not the waking up, I mean I tend to be awake way before my alarm goes off anyway but especially after a relaxing weekend away and with the mornings definitely getting darker, the idea of actually having to get up and do things fills me with dread. I've even fallen out with exercising but after buying my first pack of mince pies of the year last week I really need to find some much needed motivation.

The kids on the other hand seem to be taking things in their stride. The eldest who is now in year eight is loving some of her new teachers and appears to have gained back a bit of enthusiasm that she'd sort of lost at the end of the summer term. And my second eldest was thrilled to be chosen as part of the sports crew, gaining her own special hoody to where around school, after last weeks tests she needed a nice boost to her confidence because now the long wait begins to see if she'll pass the tests needed to get into our local grammar school.

And now I'm breathing a sigh of relief that this weekend is now upon us which brings me to my latest round up:

Read

I finished reading the fantastic A Spark Of Light from Jodi Picoult, due to be released at the end of October, expect a glowing review on the blog next month!

And a children's book that I'd heard many great things about was Pages and Co: Tilly and the Book Wanderers by Anna James. All about my favourite thing, books! This is a story that is magical and adventurous, I can see it being a real hit with young readers, the front cover alone is more than inviting.

Watched

I've been watching quite a lot of animated shows on Netflix recently. These include: Disenchantment, Final Space and Paradise PD.

All very funny but the humour is definitely on the naughtier side so these are definitely programmes for adults not kids.

Heard

I had some relatively good news this week. I've managed to get an interview for a new job, so I'm keeping everything crossed that I am successful this time around.

If you could all keep your fingers crossed for me on Monday that would be more than a little bit appreciated.

Wore

We're still in that stage of the year where it's really hard to decide what to wear. One minute the temperature us cooling and the next the sunshine has come back again and the layers need to be taken off.

Majority of the time you'll find me wearing trainers and a denim jacket, teamed up with either a dress or leggings and t-shirt. I'm in desperate need of a shopping trip to stock up for the upcoming colder months but the bank balance says no!

Although I did bring out a new jumper that I bought a while ago ... currently down to just £10 over on Very.

Made

After years of staring at our quite frankly awful back garden, we (when I say we I mean my husband), finally dug up all the dead grass and replaced it with artificial grass, just in time for summers end! Nothing like good timing.

It looks so good and the girls are thrilled as it means they can spend more time in the garden without getting into a muddy mess. It's not complete, fences still needed painting and the patio is in desperate need of re-pointing however it's a brilliant start. The garden already looks bigger, brighter and great deal more inviting, I'm already looking forward to next summer!

Week two September done!

This weekend I am looking forward to doing not a lot of anything. I will more than likely go and get myself a pumpkin spice latte (I may or may not have already had one), and the ten year old has some money to spend but apart from that I 'm predicting lots of time sat on the sofa watching films and cuddling up with the kids.

I hope your September has started off in the best of ways, roll on all that Autumn has to offer.

  3. I just love the school run now Joe has changed schools, the old run was on 15 mins but full of aggressive drivers swearing at you and cutting you up. My new run is over Pendle Hill and there are no cars hardly on the road and amazing views it takes an hour but its just beautiful, ah congratulations on the sports club I bet she was thrilled and I love the sweater x
