Read With Me 2018 #49

Hello you lovely lot and welcome to this weeks Read With Me link up. A big thank you to everyone who linked up and made the effort to comment last week, as always your interaction is greatly appreciated.

Before I get on with this weeks linky I just wanted to tell you about a book that I was kindly sent a couple of weeks ago. The story is called Elsie's Rocket to the Moon and it was written by a lovely lady called Helen Bacon.

The child in the tale was actually named after her daughter. It's a sweet book that looks at both the use of imagination and thoughts about following your dreams. The idea that you don't need to be a certain gender in order to do what it is that you want in life.

I fell in love with the illustrations, they almost look as though they are in a dream state, you get the sense that what is pictured is actually images that Elsie is conjuring up in her mind.

With short and snappy sentences and rhyming words as well, the words are easy to read and make it simple for children of many ages to engage with what is in front of them.

How it's written leads on to kids being able to broaden their own imaginations, to ask and answer questions like, if you could go anywhere right now where would you go and who would you be going with?

Elsie's Rocket to the Moon is a charming little book, aimed at children aged between 2-6, I think it would be perfect as a stocking filler.

Now on to my favourite post of the week came from Along Came Poppy with her talk about Christmas traditions for book lovers.

On to the link up. Newbies do look at the Read With Me page, regulars get linking (max of 2 posts/videos), comment on a couple of other posts and perhaps consider displaying my badge of linking back somehow.

Read With Me

Happy reading.

  1. Ah my daughter would have loved that book when she was little! Sadly her interstellar ambitions have been replaced by a fixation with unicorns and fashion. Sigh.

I love hearing from my readers so please feel free to leave comment.
