Bananagrams WildTiles Review

The girls and I are already familiar with the game Bananagrams. We've had ours of fun both inside and outdoors creating words and for the little ones recognising letters. Recently we were sent one of the newest games to the range, Bananagrams Wildtiles and the girls wasted no time in beginning to monkey around with it.

Coming in a banana shaped case, the game comes complete with the normal letters as well as six wild tiles which feature pictures of pesky monkeys.

Aimed at children aged 7 years+, the game can be played with as little as one player and as many as eight. This makes it ideal for independent play but also a brilliant family game which provides hours of entertainment.

This puts a whole new spin on the original Bananagrams. When playing with other people the idea is to race against one another  to build your own crossword grids, the trick is that the wildtiles can stand for any letter you'd like which adds a really exciting element to the game.

The first person to use all their tiles is crowned the king of the swingers winner.

There are so many elements to this game which I love.

Firstly it is a great learning tool. Although aimed primarily at older children, I've found the tiles an excellent introduction to letter recognition. Although I have the same gripe as with my previous review that I would like the letters to be in lower case as this is what is taught first. The second learning element is that it allows kids to get to grips with spelling, gaining their confidence to spell longer or more complicated words the more they play.

On the flip side, Bananagrams WildTiles is great family fun, I can see this being a fun game to play when everyone visits at Christmas as really even the adults will enjoy playing and another thing that it has been teaching my children, the idea that it is the taking part that counts, ie don't be a sore loser like mummy used to be.

Priced at £16.99, with the added pouch which has a convienient handle, this game is perfect for at home and for taking on your travels whether you are going round someone elses house or perhaps you are travelling and need some free entertainment whilst you're away, Bananagrams WildTiles provide 'go anywhere' fun for all.
