P is for ….. Packing

This week is the turn of the letter P in the Alphabet Project.

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you will already know that we had to move out of our house because the landlord decided it was time to sell.

So in my mind the letter P could only stand for packing.

O Is For …. Organised

I think I found this weeks Alphabet Project the toughest.

There are so many words that spring to mind when I think of the letter O but unfortunately I didn't have things like oranges, otters and ogres to hand.

Below is what I finally decided on :

I is for ….. Ibiza

I really am loving the alphabet project. It has got me thinking about what to photograph instead of just taking random snaps.

This week I found tough, all I could think of was ice creams and ice lollies, even though there has been a distinct lack of sunshine lately!!!

Inspiration struck when I was getting dressed yesterday.

I most definitely stands for Ibiza as it really does rock!!

B is for……Bridge

Last week saw the beginning of the alphabet project, a clever idea thought up by the lovely Charly from PODcast. This week is the turn of letter B. I actually had my photo taken for last week, you have to capture these things when the opportunity presents itself, so B stands for…… bridge.

I bet your thinking boring!! But this isn't just any old bridge, oh no, this is a troll bridge. Ok we know they don't exist but we manage to trick the girls every time we walk over it, there is a race to get over it as quick as you can, well unless your Gracie of course. Gracie will tell you that she isn't scared and she takes her time stepping over that bridge but you can see her looking from side to side, keeping her eyes peeled for those pesky trolls.

Magic Painting

Whilst Layla was napping yesterday afternoon, Gracie and I decide to a little bit of magic painting.

You will need :

* white paper
* white crayon/pencil
* paint, peferably water colours but we used acrylic diluted with water
* paint brush

Ben Brolga's Band Book Review

If you follow my blog, you will know that my children are real book worms, they finish books faster than I can replace them with different ones.

I was recently asked to review a new book called 'Ben Brolga's Band' written by the lovely Maureen Larter.

This book is part of a whole series called The Alphabet Animals of Australia because although Maureen was born in England, she moved to Australia when she was only a toddler and still lives there now.

For those of you that don't know, a Brolga is actually an Australian crane, a lovely beautiful bird, I didn't know either and they do say you learn something new every day! This book follows Ben the Brolga who along with his friends decide to form a band.

The book is in paperback form and is 16 pages long, a perfect length in my opinion, not too long for younger children so they stay focussed for the whole story. 

It is full of simple illustrations that help bring the story to life. My 8 year old was more than happy sitting and reading it by herself because it is very easy to follow and understand.

I really loved that on the last page, Maureen gives your children a little work project to do, getting them to make their own band and almost recreate the story that they have just read. 

There are five other books available from this series but you don't need to read them all as each story is separate from the rest. Now if you were wanting to purchase one of these books they cost 18 Australian dollars each and you can find Maureen on facebook and twitter. Just keep in mind that you will need to wait a while for the books to arrive from her if you do decide to purchase one.
