Little Loves March

Hello everyone, another month over and done with so I'm back with some more Little Loves linking up with the lovely Coffee Work Sleep Repeat.

Read

Every month I struggle with this one because I write a 'what I read post at the start of each month I don't want to feel like I'm repeating myself. However I do have something a little different to mention this month and that comes in the shape of a peace of writing from my eldest daughter. It is something that she actually wrote around 4 years ago that her teacher happened to find amongst her things. Can't believe how well she wrote at the age of 7.

DreamWorks Trolls Hug Time Poppy Review

Trolls, it is still my children's current favourite film, I find them listening to the soundtrack often and they already have a good selection of merchandise so when Hasbro asked if I'd like to review the Hug Time Poppy interactive toy I knew my children would love me that little bit more when it arrived.

Princess Poppy comes complete with her own tiara and an extra matching bracelet for the child to wear. When activated she speaks over 25 phrases, she lights up and of course Poppy sings songs so that the kids can sing along.

Read With Me #13 2017

Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks Read With Me. I hope you've all managed to read at least one book in the past week, perhaps you got books as a Mother's Day present. Can you believe we are into the last week of March, 3 months in and I'm already over half way through my reading targets on Goodreads.

Last week my girls took advantage of their World Book Day tokens and got themselves a book each to read, it's funny to see how they all differ in their reading tastes.

My Sunday Photo 2017 #13

Spring has finally sprung. Lighter mornings and lighter evenings. And that will continue with the clocks going forward again. What I really like about this time of the year is seeing all the flowers in bloom, the colour reappearing everywhere, really brightens my mood.

I captured this photo when we were at the park last week, I think this is the time of year that makes you stop and really appreciated your surroundings.

Till Death by Jennifer L Armentrout March Book of the Month

I have always been a huge fan of Jennifer L Armentrout, her Lux series is something I recommend time and time again, I have both the ebooks and the special edition paperbacks. So when I saw that she had released a new book, not of her usual genre I was both intrigued and excited. After reading Till Death it just had to be my choice for March book of the month.

It’s been ten years since Sasha Keaton left her West Virginia hometown . . . since she escaped the twisted serial killer known as the Groom. Returning to help run her family inn means being whole again, except for one missing piece. The piece that falls into place when Sasha’s threatened—and FBI agent Cole Landis vows to protect her the way he couldn’t a decade ago.

First one woman disappears; then another, and all the while, disturbing calling cards are left for the sole survivor of the Groom’s reign of terror. Cole’s never forgiven himself for not being there when Sasha was taken, but he intends to make up for it now . . . because under the quirky sexiness Cole first fell for is a steely strength that only makes him love Sasha more.

But someone is watching. Waiting. And Sasha’s first mistake could be her last.

When Sasha was last in her hometown she was a 19 year old girl who had just lived through the worst horror imaginable but she was the only victim to escape the clutches of the serial killer known as the groom. A decade has passed and now a 29 year old woman she heads back home to do what she should have been doing all along, running the family business.

The Vintage Sweetheart Dress Review

Having four girls I guess it comes as no surprise that they are really into clothes. Each of them has their own unique style, already choosing their outfits by themselves and having an opinion on what they think looks good. What's good is that even though they seem typically girly, they don't conform to the girls must wear pink, mixing it up with different colours and patterns. When The Vintage Sweetheart got in touch asking if I'd like to review one of their handmade dresses, it was tough deciding who would receive it. In the end I decided my seven year old should get to choose a dress, she does end up with a lot of second hand clothes so it was nice for her to get something of her own, something that you won't find on the high street.

Before I review the stunning piece we were sent let me tell you a little bit about the company. Run by the lovely Emily, The Vintage Sweetheart create wonderful handmade dresses for babies and girls ranging from 0-3 months up to age 13-14. Each dress produced by The Vintage Sweetheart is made with absolute love and care in the UK using the highest quality cotton and each one is named after some very important people in Emily's life. With every item sold they donate £3 to Mango Tree, a children's charity in India and they are suitable for whatever occasion you are looking to wear them to.

Read With Me #12 2017

Hello everyone, welcome to this weeks Read With Me. I hope everyone has had a chance to read at least one book in the week just gone.

read-with-me

I've been making my way through the book More Things in Heaven and Earth by E.A. Comiskey, I have to admit I have struggled slightly with it as it's not my normal genre but it is rather thought provoking so I'm trying to stick with it.

My Sunday Photo 2017 #12

So we missed World Book Day, not because we forgot about it but because their school dedicates a whole week to books a little later on. Monday just gone was the day they got to dress up and here they are in all their glory.

My Mother's Day Wish List

Mother's Day, it comes around every year and it is a day where mothers should all be celebrated, the mums to be, the mums already bossing it and the mums who sadly are no longer with us. It is a day to celebrate those maternal bonds and the influence mothers have on society.

Now every year I look forward to handmade cards and gifts from my children, I keep each and every one as they are things to cherish forever however this doesn't stop me from wanting things that kids definitely can't afford to buy me.

Here's a small wish list of items that could maybe give some inspiration to those out there wondering what gifts to buy their mums.

Now I had the pleasure of receiving a delivery of flowers from Beards & Daisies at Christmas, I was that impressed that I ordered more flowers for my Nana on her birthday. So I wouldn't mind a bunch of their pink champagne Mother's day flowers delivered to my door.

I've seen a lot of people talking about the idea of hygge, that well known art of creating intimacy, making a comfortable environment. I love the feelings that this can envoke so I'd like to opportunity to make my home just that little more cosy. The bedroom seems like a good place to start and I think I can do this with a little help from Cable & Cotton, I've already been fiddling with colour schemes.

Mila & Pheebs Subscription Box Review

I don't think that it is a secret that I am a huge stationery addict, I mean I currently have 4 planners on the go. Now this is another obsession (like my love of books), that I've kindly passed onto my children so when I was asked if I'd like to review one of Mila & Pheebs subscription boxes for kids stationery and activities I wasn't the only one jumping at the chance.

mila-and-pheebs-subscription-box

These fantastic boxes can be purchased on a monthly subscription for the low low price of £10 a month, on a 3 month subscription or on a 6 month subscription. Each month you receive your box, through the letter box I might add, no missed post and in them you will receive a brilliant mix of quirky stationery and activities to go alongside them all following a certain theme.

Read With Me #11 2017

Hello you lovely lot. Time for this weeks Read With Me. Our school for some reason don't celebrate World Book Day on the correct date. We have a whole book week which happens to begin today so the girls are all dressing up as their favourite characters. My eldest two are dressing up as Clary and Isabelle from The Mortal Instruments series, my seven year old is dressed up as the unicorn from Sugarlump and the Unicorn and my youngest was determined to wear her Rey costume from Star Wars.

My favourite post that was linked up last week came from Bookbairn, makes you think about all the books you can read and the places they may take you.

My Sunday Photo 2017 #11

A candid capture today of these two getting creative with cardboard boxes. They love arts and crafts, I however tend to freak out at the mess that they make with all the gluing and sticking, anyone else not cope well when their house looks more like a bomb site than a home?

Starting Secondary School

Last week I got the confirmation that my eldest daughter will be attending our local grammar school starting in September. I think back to my children when they started primary schools and I'm trying to remember how I was feeling, even though the process was quite similar it seems as though this next milestone seems harder somehow.

The transition from primary to secondary school is a big one. Different surroundings, new friends and an even higher focus on learning with more homework. I guess what's even scarier is that it marks the beginning or adolescence and Elise starting at an all girls school I'm already worried about the thought of her perhaps being bullied because we all know girls can be more than bitchy at times.

Secondary means going from being one of the oldest to one of the youngest, stepping back into the unknown territory, having to navigate your way around the school (anyone else remember thinking that secondary school was enormous?) and taking on more responsibility with increased amounts of lessons and homework.

Cheater by Rachel Van Dyken Book Review

Rachel Van Dyken is an author that I really do love. I've read many of her books so when I was offered the chance to read her latest novel Cheater I quite literally squealed. I was sent the book via Netgalley and I gave it a deserving 5 stars over on Goodreads.

Lucas Thorn wasn’t born a cheater. All it took was a single moment—say, a certain disastrous incident on the night before his wedding—and boom. Reputation destroyed forever and always. So now he owns it. He has a lady friend for every night of the week (except Sundays—God’s day and all), and his rules are simple: No commitments. No exceptions.

But a certain smart-mouthed, strawberry blonde vixen is about to blow that all to hell.

Avery Black has never forgiven Lucas for cheating on her sister. And suddenly being forced to work with him is pretty much a nightmare on steroids. Of course, it does afford her the opportunity to make his life as difficult as possible. But no good revenge scheme comes without payback. Because he didn’t become the Lucas Thorn without learning a few things about women.

Now Avery’s lust for vengeance has turned into, well, lust. And if Lucas stops cheating, it’s definitely not because he’s falling in love…

Read With Me #10 2017

Hello you lot and welcome to this weeks Read With Me. I've become rather busy with coursework again these past couple of weeks so reading has taken a back burner but watch out for Friday's post where I'll tell you all about what I read in February.

read-with-me

I've actually read 18 books so far this year which is well ahead on my target of 52 books for the whole year.

My Sunday Photo 2017 #10

Last weekend I had the pleasure of going out to dinner with a lot of my family to celebrate my nan and grandpa's 60th wedding anniversary. It was lovey to have so many of us altogether at one time as usually that only seems to happen oh so rarely these days.

With everyone dressed up so nicely I wanted to capture my girls all together, I seem to rarely get them in a photograph as a group, but my attempts didn't quite go to plan... Funny faces, not looking at the camera, I guess you could say I got some candid photos.

What I Read in February

I may have gone back on my word of last month, I happened to mention that I had slowed down my reading since the start of the new year. Well the coursework sort of took a back burner this month, partly down to half term, partly because I felt I'd pushed too hard the previous month, I'm trying to find that balance of work and play and my escape has always been books. So here is what I read in February.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

ocean-at-end-of-lane

Sussex, England. A middle-aged man returns to his childhood home to attend a funeral. Although the house he lived in is long gone, he is drawn to the farm at the end of the road, where, when he was seven, he encountered a most remarkable girl, Lettie Hempstock, and her mother and grandmother. He hasn't thought of Lettie in decades, and yet as he sits by the pond (a pond that she'd claimed was an ocean) behind the ramshackle old farmhouse, the unremembered past comes flooding back. And it is a past too strange, too frightening, too dangerous to have happened to anyone, let alone a small boy.

Forty years earlier, a man committed suicide in a stolen car at this farm at the end of the road. Like a fuse on a firework, his death lit a touchpaper and resonated in unimaginable ways. The darkness was unleashed, something scary and thoroughly incomprehensible to a little boy. And Lettie—magical, comforting, wise beyond her years—promised to protect him, no matter what.

Beauty and the Beast Merchandise Review

It's not long now, March this year sees the release of Disney's live action version of Beauty and the Beast staring the lovely Emma Watson. In celebration of this there has of course been a lot of wonderful merchandise made.

beauty-and-the-beast

The lovely people at the Disney Store UK have sent my girls a couple of items from the new product range to keep them occupied whilst we wait for the film to hit the big screen.
