Become a Popstar With the JoJo Siwa Microphone and Bodacious Bow

You may have heard of JoJo Siwa, she's a TV star and a YouTube sensation (4.7 million subscribers!). Beginning her career on the popular TV programme, Dance Moms, JoJo has since gone on to release hit singles including Boomerang, a range of her famous bows and many more items to accompany them. 

The latest products to emerge from this craze are the JoJo Siwa Microphone and her new Bodacious Bow. I'm sure these will be on many Christmas lists this year and I'm here to give you a close up of what you can expect from them.

Jo Jo Deluxe Bow Maker Review

For those of you that haven't heard of JoJo Siwa let me tell you a little bit more about her. Her reall name is Joelle Joanie Siwa  and she is an American dancer, singer, actress, and for my kids a big YouTube personality. 

You may know her from her appearance on Dance Moms along with her mother, Jessalynn Siwa. I now know her from her singles "Boomerang" and "Kid in a Candy Store" which my 5 year old plays on repeat.

My girls were kindly sent a few items from her range and this included and umbrella, some original Jo Jo bows and the deluxe bow maker.

What a lot of my readers won't know is that I'm actually a hairdresser by trade and although I don't really do a lot of hairdressing these days, I still enjoy putting up my daughters' hair, having a fiddle with different styles and my girls are no different. In fact quite often you'll find them "making me pretty". My nine year old is getting quite good at french plaits and even does her younger sisters hair on occasion. Ok I am in no way a beauty expert. I'm lucky to get put of the door in the mornings looking half presentable since becoming a mum but I do have some hair and beauty products that help me to look in some way decent so I thought I'd share my top five with you today.

AirMotion Brush Review

I struggle with my own hair some days and with 4 daughters who all need their hair brushing and styling, I have even less time to attend to my own 'beauty' needs.

Each of my girls all have lovely straight hair but their textures and thickness differ, I tend to use different brushes and combs on each of them as what works for one doesn't work for another.

This is where the new brush on the block, the AirMotion, steps in. This new multi- use brush aims to redefine brushing.

The brush is designed by a professionally trained hairstylist so I had high hopes to begin with as you'd think that a person who knows about hair should be able to create a brush that gives you luscious locks right?

When thinking of a brush, I bet you can't think of many stand out features but with the AirMotion brush you would be wrong, here are just a few of them -

Air shock absorption : This is patent pending but the idea is to reduce the strain on your hair, helping to reduce breakage.

Tri-Bristle configuration : Most brushes have their bristles all the same length. The AirMotion brush compromises of bristles made of 3 different lengths and diameters, meaning that no hair is left untangled.

To Chop Or Not To Chop, That's The Question!

To chop or not chop that is the question!! It seems to have been the trend over the past year to go from super long hair to medium/shoulder length hair, atleast for the celebrities among us anyway.

Me, I've gone from long to short more times than I can count. I remember when I was around 10 years old that my hair was actually past my bum and I went ahead and chopped it all off, well almost all, I ended up with a below chin length bob. Quite extreme, something I certainly regretted after doing it.

The collage below shows a few styles I've rocked been seen with over the years. It was actually after posting my first ever profile picture on FB the other week that I started considering a change, a few friends commented on how nice my hair had looked, it's the second one down on the right on the picture below.

The First Hair Cut

There are a lot of firsts where are kids are concerned and they are all as equally exciting and memorable as the last. All of my children have had their first hair cut very late on. Born bald and with slow growing hair, I never felt the need to even give them a trim and I think I was always reluctant to cut anything off because I hated the fact that everyone always commented "isn't HE lovely", "oh look at HIM, so lovely". Yep even when dressed head to toe in pink they always got mistaken for boys.

But the time came to finally give Layla her first hair cut. Her hair is now resembling the "mullet" style. Not a good look but I adore the tiny curl she has at the back, when pulled straight this one bit trails down her back, unlike the rest of her yet to catch up locks.

The Popband Review

As many of you will know from reading my blog, I am very lucky to have four daughters. Now at the moment only three of my four daughters have lovely full heads of hair, which I have to put up on a daily basis for school/playschool. So I was very lucky when I received some of the newly launched popbands in the post.

Popbands are hairbands that are very stretchy and soft, they promise to not rip your hair and to leave no kinks/dents when you take them out. So of course I wanted to see whether they really did work as I am forever untangling hair from hair bands and having to re wash hair because my girls have been left with a nice line where they have had their hair up all day!!

I received two different types of popband, the individual one, that comes with a crystal looking bead on it and a twin pack that includes a normal size popband and a larger one to wear like an alice band.

Each pack comes with a card which shows you what to do with the popband, and as you can see, there is more than one way to wear your popband.

My 3 year old was the first to try out her new popband, mummy came in handy and put her hair up in a nice pony tail. The popband was very easy to use, there was a good amount of stretch to it and because the material is so soft, it didn't cut into my fingers as I twisted it around.

She kept the pony tail in for approximately 5 hours and I am happy to report that when the popband was removed, there were no kinks in her hair and there was no hair pulled out or wrapped around the removed popband, success!!!

My 5 year old chose to test out the larger popband, she was able to pop it over her head and onto her hair herself. This hairband is a one size fits all, so would stretch to fit each child's head, it even fit my head and let me tell you my head isn't exactly small (all the brains in there I think!!). Even though the material is soft, it didn't slide around her head, it stayed in place nicely, no need to keep redoing it.

Now there is one other way to use the popband, which my 7 year old demonstrates in the photo below.

It really does make a stylish bracelet, especially with the jewelled bead on there!! And with so many colours to choose from, you could have a different one for each day of the week. And again because of how soft and stretchy there are, there is no danger of it cutting into your child's wrists. I always have a hairband on my wrist, you know incase of hair pulling happening, I'm sure many of you mums out there with small babies know what I'm talking about. So having a popband on my wrist looks a lot better than an older elastic covered in hair!!

With prices starting at just £4, I really would recommend the popband to anyone and everyone. You can buy individual popbands or opt to buy a multipack and with the variety of colours available, there really is something for every girl. I was so impressed with them I went ahead and bought more. My daughters keep getting annoyed with me because I keep "borrowing" their hairbands :)
