The New Teacher Book Review
The lovely people at Alma Books kindly sent my eldest daughter one of their newest releases to read and review and it seemed quite apt for this time of year, with September being focused on children going back to school.
Miss Charlotte the new teacher, is not like the others: she wears a large hat and a crumpled dress that make her look like a scarecrow and she talks to a rock. The children think she is crazy at first but soon realize she makes school more fun, getting them to measure the room with cooked spaghetti in maths class, telling fascinating stories about a gorilla and even taking the pupils on at football.
Num Noms are Creating Wacky Bakers in the Kitchen
Num Noms are fun and quirky collectable toys that all have wonderful scents, this allows your child/ren to mix and match the smells to create some delicious combinations. Now with the Great British Bake Off back on our televisions these cute treats are back with their aptly named campaign Wacky Bakers.

My Sunday Photo 2016 #39
This was a photo from last weekend. My husband had just created a purpose made shoe rack for our porch so the old shoe rack had been made redundant. We'd popped it into the garden while we decided what to do with it so of course the girls incorporated it into their pretend play.

The Problem with Hormones
Hormones, we all have them, we all know of them and we all know someone that has been affected negatively by them. These special chemicals are all part of what makes our bodies grow up and let me tell you they've definitely started to make an appearance in my eldest two children and the problem with hormones, one word, attitude!

Happy Calc Puzzle Review
Maths is a subject that I wouldn't say I overly enjoyed at school but it was one that I was good at, my children however have all taken after their father and favour English over Maths so I'm always looking for ways to encourage them to learn more about numbers but in ways that aren't deemed as boring. Recently we were kindly send the Happy Calc Elementary Maths puzzle to play with and review.
Mary Had a Little Glam
I love books that are a little quirky, a bit different from the norm and this is definitely what you get with Tammi Sauer's latest book Mary Had a Little Glam. Having previously reviewed one of her other books, Chicken Dance, I was expecting good things from her newest story.
Mary had a little glam that grew into a lot. And everywhere that Mary went, she wasn't hard to spot. But on the day she started school she caught some by surprise. Sweet May shrugged and hugged her mom. "I must accessorize."

My Sunday Photo 2016 #38
Last week was my 8th wedding anniversary, it was the day we got back from our holiday so we didn't have a chance to really do a lot as quite frankly we were both too tired. But when we got home at 6.30am I was greeted by this gorgeous bunch of flowers.

Song of the Deep Book Review
The most recent book my daughter and I have been kindly sent to review is from video game creator Brian Hastings. Song of the Deep is an illustarted tie-in novel that goes alongside the video game of the same name, telling the complete story of twelve year old heroine Merryn.
EndWarts Pen Review
Verrucas and warts are more common than you think, most people will have them at some point in their lives but they are more likely to affect children and teenagers than adults. I remember the days of people having to wear these horrid socks when we went swimming and dreaded the thought of having to wear one myself.
But what are warts exactly? They are small lumps that can develop either singly or as clusters often on your hands or feet, not thought to be very contagious however they can be transferred with skin to skin contact so it is best to avoid touching them. Most warts are harmless and will actually clear up without treatment.

Spetember Book of The Month Our Chemical Hearts
I was kindly provided with a copy of this book via Netgalley. This book is described as a crossover between John Green and Rainbow Rowell and I have to agree.
Henry Page has never been in love. He fancies himself a hopeless romantic, but the slo-mo, heart palpitating, can't-eat-can't-sleep kind of love that he's been hoping for just hasn't been in the cards for him—at least not yet. Instead, he's been happy to focus on his grades, on getting into a semi-decent college and finally becoming editor of his school newspaper. Then Grace Town walks into his first period class on the third Tuesday of senior year and he knows everything's about to change.
Grace isn't who Henry pictured as his dream girl—she walks with a cane, wears oversized boys' clothes, and rarely seems to shower. But when Grace and Henry are both chosen to edit the school paper, he quickly finds himself falling for her. It's obvious there's something broken about Grace, but it seems to make her even more beautiful to Henry, and he wants nothing more than to help her put the pieces back together again. And yet, this isn't your average story of boy meets girl. Krystal Sutherland's brilliant debut is equal parts wit and heartbreak, a potent reminder of the bittersweet bliss that is first love.

Enjoying All That Santa Ponsa in Majorca Has To Offer
The last time we got to go away on holiday as a family was way back in 2013 when we went to our favourite destination that is Ibiza. That honestly feels like a life time ago and of course back then we had a lot of extra luggage that we needed to take which included things like nappies and a pushchair. Fast forward to August 2016 and we were on our way to Santa Ponsa in Majorca, having never been there before we were a bit apprehensive as to what this place would have to offer but we needn't of worried.

Mira Forecasts the Future Book Review
I was recently sent a gem of a children's book to review, Mira Forecasts the Future is the latest book from Kell Andrews. Just from the front cover I could tell this was a book to get excited about.

And Mira just doesn't. The one day, she notices the wind fluttering through the streamers of a windsock. Using science, she finds her own special talent for making predictions. But when am impending storm threatens the town's surf competition, her newfound skill is put to the test!
LeapFrog LeapStart Review
Having reviewed plenty of LeapFrog products in the past, for example their LeapReader, I was a little excited to see just what their newest release, the LeapStart had to offer. Described as an amazing, super-fun, all in one system, this interactive learning toy is set to compliment your child's schooling in the best of ways.

Starting School Advice, Parents Helping Parents
The end of the Summer holidays are in sight. For some parents this will be a welcome relief and for others in may be a more anxious time, especially if your child/ren are starting primary school or secondary school for the first time. So I thought I'd offer a little advice from one parent to another with a little help from some blogging friends. Words of wisdom that might help you and your kids feel a little less worried about this next big milestone that you're facing, I mean parents should be helping other parents shouldn't they.
